I am planning on apply ED to Bucknell University. I have always had an interest in nursing and am strongly considering pursuing a career as a Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Anesthetist. Is it possible to do so with a Bucknell degree and, if so, how?
Why Bucknell?
For 4 years, you’re looking at a quarter of a million retail in a program that’s not directly NP aligned. Stats show 6% of the student body is in a biology sciences major.
Many state schools offer nursing programs, often with tie-ins to hospitals. Given that you’re looking for post-undergrad education as part of your program of study, be sure to consider the whole course of study and the total cost.
I’m still not totally sure as to what I plan on majoring in/pursuing so Bucknell is a great fit in that sense. I love the school and want to go there for sure. It is possible that i do not pursue Nursing, however, I am interested in learning about the options for doing so at Bucknell.
Buckle doesn’t have an explicit pre-med or pre-vet. See their pre-health advising options: http://www.bucknell.edu/Pre-Health
Most of the links there require you to have a myBucknell account, but you should be able to request information and set up a meeting as part of an onsite interview day.
Bucknell does not offer nursing. If you really want to be a nurse, you should try to get into a direct admit program. Bucknell does have excellent pre-health preparation but that is mostly geared toward med school, podiatry school, dental etc. I imagine you would need another 2 years to get your BSN after a degree at Bucknell
