I’m an OOS student and I was wondering if I’d be a competitive applicant for the nursing program. I understand it’s extremely competitive.
Hi! This year I was accepted in the UD Nursing Program. It is very competitive about 2,000 people apply and this year they took 194 students. Your GPA is a bit higher than mine was when I applied. Our SAT and ACT scores are exactly the same. So I would say you have a pretty good chance. Beyond all this you have to write an essay so make sure that is well written.
@noodles55 Hi, thank you so much for your reply! I submitted my application two days ago and answered like 3 of the 5 optional questions in addition to the essay. If I may ask, did you receive any form of scholarships? Out of state cost is very expensive!
I didn’t. But I am instate so I am lucky. Make sure you apply for the FASFA. It helped a lot for me.
Hi, I am an OOS student who was accepted into UD’s nursing program. I am currently in my first semester right now. Just wanted to let you know, I did get some scholarship money, but it is still really expensive. I’ve been to the financial aid office to appeal multiple times, but they don’t have the funds to help cover the cost of OOS students. I also filled out FAFSA. That given, the program is really good. I had decent grades a gpa of around a 3.6 on a 4.0 scale and an ACT of 28. Took multiple AP’s and honors classes in high school.
I had a lot of volunteer service and a 2 year internship at a local free healthcare clinic where I live and obviously wrote the essay. I recommend trying to do the interview when that becomes an option. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions, I’ll be happy to answer them
@behappee thank you so much for your reply! I’m trying to schedule an interview, but it seems they’re currently not doing them. My big concern about UDel is the price, $45,000 a year for out of state is way too much for me!
Yeah it is! I’m in debt ahaha, although it’s not funny. But I’m hoping it’ll be made up with a good education and job
How do you get an interview? Did they ask you or did you call and arrange an interview?
@lisag519 It seems they have disabled the website to sign up for an interview. I’ve been checking every couple of days and its been giving me an error. Kind of upsetting after they told me there would be interviews starting in september.
@NursingMan Did you hear from UDel yet? My daughter got her acceptance to the nursing program recently. Still waiting to hear about merit money.
@lisag519 Yes, I was accepted. Congratulations to your daughter! I’m waiting for merit money as well, and I hoping its decent cause the out of state price-tag is a lot.
@NursingMan We just got the letter about merit scholarship last week. Hope you hear soon!
I applied to the nursing program 9/26 and got a confirmation on 10/16. My stats are basically the same as posted on this thread but I’m starting to lose hope. Should I take this as a bad sign? My major has yet to disappear from the portal
@gekro427 What are your stats? I wouldn’t take it as a bad sign, just make sure the portal has everything checked off. Are you in-state or out of state?
@NursingMan I have a 3.9 W GPA (and all A’s on my first quarter grades this year) and 1200 SAT. I took college classes at UD (one of which is required for nursing and received above a 90 in both classes), I have TONS of EC and much leadership. I took only 4 high level classes (due to a moving issue which I explained) but thats excluding the college classes so it can technically be considered 6. I have a great essay and really close relationships with the teachers who recommended me. I am OOS but I have close connections with people there because I have family associated with the college and I met admissions representatives over the summer. I’m not sure what’s going on but it’s my top choice and I’m starting to stress out.
@gekro427 It sounds like you’re a strong applicant and I definitely understand the stress of waiting for a decision, i’m in the same position with my top choice right now. If everything is checked off in your application then you should receive a decision in the coming weeks.
@NursingMan Thank you! I hope so! I’ve shown so much interest in UD and everything is checked off so I’ll just have to continue to be patient. I hope everything goes well with your top and congrats to UD’s acceptance!
Hi there! I will be a senior in high school this upcoming year and am highly interested in applying to the UD nursing program. Below I have posted my statistics and was hoping I could have some feedback from others who were accepted. I am an out of state student and my stats are as follows:
