To become a pediatric oncology nurse, do you apply to nursing school and admission into a college at the same time during the first semester of your high school senior year? Or do you take your pre-reqs, get your BSN, and then apply to nursing school? Is your BSN included in nursing school? I am so confused…
Some schools are direct admit, meaning that you apply your Senior year of HS and if accepted, you are in the Nursing program. Most are a 2+2, where you start off as a Pre-Nursing major or any other related major at a community college or 4 year university, taking pre-req classes and then apply to a Nursing school after 2 years. A BSN is a 4 year Nursing degree. An ASN is a 2 year Nursing degree. Always go for the BSN for the best job opportunities.
These are the direct admit Nursing programs in California:
UC Irvine and UCLA
San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton
University of San Francisco, Azusa Pacific and Dominican University.
