Nursing student

Hello. I am studying as a nurse in community college as an international student. Now I am studying prerequisites.I have limited finance for my tuition. Is it possible if I can get scholarships or financial aid for my nursing programme? If so, what are better ways to search scholarships

Thanks

Your best resources would be the financial aid office and the international student office of your community college.

International students who have successfully obtained financial assistance for a US college education typically secure that assistance directly from the college they are attending, or from their local community. Alas, most colleges don’t have significant scholarship funding for international students. The trick is to research funding opportunities before you decide where to apply. Once you have enrolled at a particular school, you are stuck with whatever resources are available there.

If you are already struggling financially and you haven’t even entered the nursing phase of your program yet, I would strongly urge you to reconsider your academic plans. It may make more sense to pursue your nursing education in another country, before you waste too much money on courses for a degree that you cannot afford to finish.

For nursing in particular, it makes sense to look at other countries even if your goal is to settle in the US eventually. Foreign-trained nurses can obtain a nursing license in most US states, and there’s dozens of nursing staffing agencies that would hook you up with an employer and help you obtain a green card. Granted, you may end up working a less-than-desirable job for your first 2 years in the US, but that may be a trade-off you’re willing to make?
