Nutrition Major?

I was accepted into CALS as a Nutritional Sciences major and I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me a little more about the major if you are currently studying nutrition. Is it a really challenging major and what areas are most focused within the major (chemistry, etc.)? I am prepared to work hard, it is just that a lot of people keep telling me that Cornell is going to be extremely challenging and I guess I'm just getting nervous, any help would be much appreciated!

I’m not a nutrition major but I have a couple of friends who were. What I heard is that the major is difficult in the sense that most classes are not curved (the grade you get is what you will get in the class). This can come as a blessing or curse for some people depending on how they perform on the prelims. This is definitely a science focused major. All my nutrition friends took baby orgo (organic chemistry), orgo lab, biochemistry, and microbio.

Overall, your Cornell education is what you make of it. Don’t be discouraged by what you heard from others. If you are prepared to work hard then I think you will do fine. I find in too many instances (including my own experiences) that many people find Cornell to be challenging because of bad study habits. If you can find a good study habit (not just cram before exams and keep up your work) you will be fine.

Also, don’t be disappointed by one or two of bad grades since for most people this will be part of the college experience haha.
