Hi I have a question regarding regents exams. I can’t decide wether to take Living environment or earth science next year, and my only question is what’s easier for you guys? Which requires less memorization?
I’m a parent. Living environment (biology) is required for graduation. Earth science can count as another regents but it’s not a required one. Earth science is generally considered easier but a lot depends on what you are interested in.
Another parent. I agree completely. You need to take Living Environment.
It’s mid August-- don’t you have course selections in already? Most schools do them in about March.
But just as an FYI-- Living Environment DOES mean lots of memorization.
I agree with the parents above. Having done both, LE is a lot more interesting as well!
In my experience with NY schools Living Environment is easier. When I was a student (100 years ago) in NYS, everyone took Biology. But they made it a requirement and in my opinion made the class easier. If you can, get in the honors Living Environment or the Honors Biology class. I happen to believe this will be better for college and your future. But in terms of an easier regents, yes, Living Environment is the way to go. But in my children’s public high school both classes are required and anyone going to college takes both regents so you will still need to take Earth Science. In our previous private high school they did not teach Earth Science. At that school you took Biology, chemistry, Physics and then an A.P. science.
Biology honors is really really hard at my school, some kids say its harder than IB biology and AP biology (both offered at my school).
