NYC MT Unifieds- What's a realistic # of auditions?

My D hopes to attend NYC Unifieds in January. How many auditions are ideal/feasible from a scheduling standpoint? And do many schools offer walk in opportunities?

My D is trying to schedule 10 schools. She has two schools on Friday, three on Saturday, four on Sunday and one on Monday. I am worried about Sunday because we do not have the times yet for some of the schools, just a date. I do not know about walk-ins but someone posted today about 5 schools that will do walk-ins on 1/19/17. Unfortunately, my D has all day auditions already that day. Hope this information is helpful

My D has an audition for Pace Friday morning and Ithaca(if she passes the prescreen) Friday afternoon. She has Boston Conservatory, Point Park and Roosevelt on Saturday. Monclair, Rider and Syracuse on Sunday. Still waiting on Penn State. She has Carnegie Mellon on Monday. I seems like a lot so I really hope it all works out!!!

In Chicago my D scheduled 2 a day over 4 days, and then one each the weekend before (some schools schedule in the same city, but not officially unifieds), so 10 total. But many schools were quick in-and-out deals, so she could have fit a few walk ins in there had she wished. She opted for downtime and sightseeing instead. Some schools give you really clear info on what time, how long, etc. Some don’t tell you until a week or two ahead. Makes scheduling stressful which is why we landed on two - allowing for one am and one pm, up to half a day long. I know you are asking about NY but I think this approach translates.

We just scheduled Boston Conservatory at Chicago Unifieds, and their schedule locks you up from mid-morning through mid-afternoon. If you sign up for a morning audition time, you have a dance call in the afternoon. If you sign up for an afternoon audition, the dance call is in the morning. I guess that will be a day to hopefully do some walk-ins as I don’t know if we could comfortably schedule anything else.

Yes, I think the same principles apply for different cities. What was hard for me to figure out was the amount of time you need to block out for each school’s audition.

She has submitted applications to about 14 schools total and about 8 of them are officially listed at Unifieds. For the schools that are close (we can drive to) and/or ones she particularly likes, we are inclined to do on-campus auditions. The others (Emerson, Penn State, Point Park, Roosevelt, Ithaca) would be ones we would hope to do in NYC.
