For those people that applied to NYIT, did you guyz get some kind of email about a scholarship award reception? I just wanted to knw wht this is all about..and whether it is actually worth the time to attend it.

no one got it?

Not worth going to anyways. Just sayin'.

how good is the program?...
i heard its actually pretty bad..i probably wont go..but my parents like it bc its so close

really?...i thought it was good..wht bad stuff did u hear?

my cousin's in the prg, and some things she told me were: they don't take AP credits and the prg not really guaranteed, meaning you have to take the mcat's and score above a minimum score

oo yea i heard that too..they require i believe a minimum of 26 on the MCAT...and even though they dont take AP credits, it still helps because u will know the material beforehand

isn't NYIT a D.O. school? Unless you have your heart set on practicing Osteopathic medicine, and are really in love with NYIT, I would advise against limiting your options so early in the game. If you go the regular undergrad route and get a 26 on your MCAT you will be pretty competitive at most D.O. schools. Just something to think about.

oo yea..thtz true too

you dont need stellar grades to get into the program..i dont know anyone thats ever been rejected...a lot of the kids that go to the nyit program are people who would probably end up at hofstra or schools like that...also the ppl that go to the nyit DO program probably couldnt get into a MD program...

idk..i hear mixed reviews bc i know a few people that attend/ed the program and they love it or hate it...personally i feel like i could do so much better...but my whole family wants me to go there

neha if you work hard, you'll be fine wherever you go...it just depends on whether this is a school youll be happy at..
you going on thursday?

im going to the NYCOM thing on wednesday

i was thinking abt going to NYIT...and then transferring to a medical school after 3 years...i just hav to make sure i score really high on the MCAT though

im going wednesday too..thursday i have a hunter honors thing.

yea you can always do that

I'm a junior in Kellenberg Memorial High School in New York. I'm interested in the B.S./D.O. program so I can take everything in 7 years instead of 8. I just wanted to know how hard it is to get into this program. I read on the website that you need a minimum average of 90 and minimum 1200 SAT score. my average in the 1st trimester this year was a 93.5 and the 2nd trimester was a 94.4. my 3 year GPA will be between a 90 and a 92. I didnt take the SAT's yet but I dont know if I can get a 1200 on it! Is this enough for me to get in? I'm also looking to play soccer at NYIT. He said last year he was interested in me so hopefully he will be this year! any thoughts?
