I got an email about National Leadership Forum on Medicine saying that I've been nominated to join. According to their website, a teacher nominates the student. Has anyone been before? It's ~$2500 so I'm wondering if this is like those People-2-People things where they just want your money.

Here's a link to the site:

I received this letter too like 30 min ago...Is it worth it?

in one word: no. lol.

haha. i think people really enjoy them and get the opportunity to meet a ton of people...but if you're looking for a program where you learn valuable information for future this is probably not the place to go. plus, it is quite pricey for just a week.

my attended the one on law. for him, it was a good program. Not fantastic or mind blowing -- but he learned alot about law. He was vaguely interested and hadn't had much exposure to the the career of an attorney and that is what he learned at the NYLF program. I would say it is a good program for in-depth career exploration in the area. If you already know alot about that career option, it would probably just be repeat info.

I went to the med one in boston and liked it. You get out of it what you put into it. Without enthusiam and involvement, it worthless. But if you are genuinely interested, its amazing. It is not intensive coursework or anything, its more education through experiences.

two of my reeally good friends went to NYLF for medicine, one in LA and the other to one in the east coast (im not quite sure ... she didnt specify) but they really enjoyed it but because they had a really good time there, they didnt really talk about what they learned but i know they really really liked it. and they suggested for me to go, but im doing it next summer cause this summer's way too jampacked for me to add anything else.
