NYU 2008 Transfer

oh ok, thanks, I'll check for that.

No problem, I really want to go to NYU Gallatin but dont like my chances...

anyone got an answer for my question??

whats the number to the office of admissions?

modern, you can be a economics major in CAS and i think CAS also has a pre-business program too. hope that helps! look online at the CAS website and it will give you an indepth explanation of the different major and programs they offer. Economics is one of them. You can even look at the courses they are offering for this semester to get an idea of what they have!

ok cool thanks mandela! man..these essays have me overwhelmed.

does it better my chances if i put undecided for my major or no?

No though putting an unpopular major might do so (change it if you get in)

what are some unpopular majors at NYU? I am guessing NOT econ or journalism. what about history or spanish?

Also, I was just wondering what are some of yalls reasons for wanting to go to NYC? I have been thinking about this a lot today and thought I might ask what others think.

hows psychology for it?

Here are some of my reasons for going to NYU. It has a good finance program, and i want to be an investment banker or something similar. I'm gay and the people at my current college aren't really that open minded. Last but not least it's in NYC! I love the energy of a big city. You can't run out of things to do. You don't need a car. It has good food and shopping. It has lots of job opportunities. I could go on forever.

THE CITY. I live in Kentucky KENTUCKY PLZ GOD LET ME ESCAPE! Plus Gallatin is cool, i love the idea behind it's program.

Just curious, why isn't anyone putting their credentials down?

Morg, what particularly interests you? I am curious because I am also applying to Gallatin.

is psychology an unpopular major at nyu?

Well I like the focus on the individual student; I think a lot of schools are just really really impersonal and pursuing my own interest would be cool. Since I plan on pre law the lack of a traditional major means little if I take hard courses n keep the old GPA . I might wait and apply for fall instead not decided yet.

ppl arent posting their stats bc most of the ppl still active on this board put their stats down towards the beginning. i did at least.

this is kind of dying down. you would think it would be busier with all the ppl who apply to NYU as transfers. we could really use some advice from people who have exprienced this process bc it seems like we are mostly in the dark. anyone, anyone? :-)

im checking this forum like every hour. i'm just ashamed of my stats right now to post and don't want to know my chances. I like to be blinded a little bit. But still anyone got an answer to my question about unpopular majors? I gotta get in!

modern - sorry to say that I really can't see an unpopular major creating better chances for you as a transfer student.

That being said, I wrote this is response to another student interested in Gallatin:

I know, validated by Gallatin's website, that they like strong writers. Make sure when writing your last short answer question, that you focus on why Gallatin's unique methods will help you--answering this way is mentioned as a requirement on the site.

Also, I have seen folks with 3.4 college gpa's accepted into Gallatin. I don't think they can make a decision solely on your academics. They are after particular people, not someone who misses the point. I think that a lot of over-qualified students apply and are rejected because they don't make point of how they will work as a Gallatin student.

Lastly, the website mentions that the students who are applying are invited to submit a personal statement explaining why Gallatin will work for them. This, I think, is in addition to the essay and short answer questions.

so is this untrue?

this thread seems to be dying..no one is interested in Nyu?
