Anyone thinking of transfering yet for 2008?

Oh yeah...I've been waiting for 2008 season for a while now.

NYU Math/Econ in CAS, still feel like its my #1 right now.

what are your stats?
what college do you attend now?

I'm at a pittburgh community college. My highschool stats were very low, I believe a 2.3 gpa or so.

Now in college, at the end of this semester I will have a 3.65 but I have summer classes and two more semesters to bring that up to about a 3.75-3.85. taking some higher level classes by then as well. calc two, advanced econ, language and what not.

my SAT scores in highschool were a 1280 old score but I'm retaking them in june just to show I could do better, despite them having "no weight" on NYU's decision. I am going to show them anyway. The retake is mostly for Reed College who accepts scores from anytime in your accademic career but I'm sure a 100 point jump (if possible) would show NYU and the rest of the schools on my transfer list I am a smarty pants.

I am applying to Spring '08 for transfer to CAS.

High School was a flop: B- average (3.02)
SAT Scores: So low I won't even post them.

Current College: Boise State University - Honors College (at the end of the semester)

Current GPA: 3.9, Dean's List with Distinguished Honors

EC's: Community Service, Art Lessons with a renowned instructor, Piano Lessons, Work experience (French Bistro), 7+ years of soccer (metro, rec), Summer Classes, Volunteer work with Debs and Phils (local musical group).

I am looking to apply for 08 as well.

I went
California Com COllege to UCLA

GPA overall is about 3.4 (UCLA is 3.37)

I will ahve over 130 units when i want to transfer though so i dont know if that will be negative.

I am looking at the same major, Math/econ

I dont see anyone transferring with a GPA as low as mine.
I have no ECs, only work & internships & family stuff.

Does anyone know when the APP is going to be up?

Also , if youapply for spring, and get rejected can you apply for summer, or do you have to wait a year?

You have to wait one full year before applying again. Kinda hit or miss policy...

I will try to transfer to NYU as a junior transfer for fall 2008.
(I rejected this year:()

How many applicants who applied to Stern for fall 2007?...anybody knows?..

I wonder if Stern is as selective as CAS

Stern is actually more selective than CAS. Stern and Tisch are considered the most selective of them all...

Which school is the most competitive, especially Fall semester?...between Stern and CAS...

I wanna major in econ..but I haven't decided yet which school I'm gonna
apply to..

This year..Only accepted 6% for CAS. (really amazing..lol)

Stern would be. Yeah, I'm still waiting for official figures to come out regarding how many were accepted.

Does NYU accept by major?

I though that they accept by school.

The transfer rate to cas was about 28%, atleast that is what i though.
I never saw any figures that said 6% . Where did you get that from>

I plan on applying Math/Econ anyways and i am sure that if they do choose by major, that major is NOT popular

You apply and are accepted to a specific school.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the Math/Econ for CAS is quite popular considering NYU's fairly high ranking econ program.

I rejected this year. One of the representatives told me...only accepted 6% for CAS among around 1700 applicants....amazing..!!!

People hate math though, i was looking at various math econ programs, and when i could find the actual apply/admit rates, its very very small in comparison to other programs.

UCLA for example, which no one can say is poorly ranked in anything, maybe not as highly as NYU but non the less, anyways, that major had about 60 applicants in cmparison to the 400+ applicatns in the econ department.

Also, in NYU math/econ is govered by the Mathematics department, its inter-departmental but your primary department is Mathematics not ecnomics, so that would also play a role, because i am sure the Math department has more space than the econ departments due to few people in demand of the math department.

But non the less, this does not explain where that 6% statistic came from, if NYU accepts by school and not by major or department, there is NO way it would be 6% transfer rate.

I am really doubtful of that percentage. The best thing we can do is just wait until this coming week as a lot of decisions will probably be mailed out; we can see how the majority of CC applicants do.

this is from

A:

Tony, The transfer acceptance rate at NYU is actually 32%, while the acceptance rate for transfer students at Columbia is 10%. Without a 4.0, I don't think you can get into Columbia, but you should still apply. You've got a shot at NYU.

Good luck!

I deleted the question because it was irrelevant to the conversation and you can go to the website if the question matters, but even if that question is a bit old, there is no way that the acceptance rate dropped from 32% to 6% in a span of even 3 years.

I have no idea why there are little *** instead of the actual link?

actually here is even a better link

this was posted on the NYU forum website

they say its around 30%

I know that the 6 and 8% came from NYU reps, but that just does NOT make any sence given the past years.

I doubt acceptance rates can plummet like that.
