In the past years, NYU has sent invitations in Mid-March for the accepted students event held in April. It doesn't seem to be the case this year; any thoughts? Should we be expecting an e-mail in the coming days?

My D was accepted to NYU Tisch in December. At that time we ‘liked’ or ‘followed’ an accepted admissions page they sent us (can’t remember the details). Through that we saw a posting last week for accepted students weekend April 20/21 where you could sign up to attend. Were you accepted yet? Regular decisions are next week and they will email out the link for the weekend at that time I would think.

In 2010- when my son was admitted- he first got an invitation for an accepted student event but he had not received an official decision on whether or not he was admitted. He was so confused and so were a lot of other people. I had never heard of an invitation for an event without a decision before.

@researchmaven, congratulations to your daughter, she must be an intelligent, passionate and talented girl. You must be so proud! I am still waiting to hear from Tisch; the decisions should be out next week.

@supportive, yes! that’s why I’m asking the question! People who get the invitation before their decision are most likely accepted. Howerver this year, they haven’t sent anything for the regular decision pool.

FutureActor- Yeah- it’s frustrating!

Last year that invitation did not come out until AFTER the acceptances did. I remember because it was way too late for us to do anything about it from the West Coast even if we wanted to. I think that early tip off is over.

Yes-- the date came up very quickly after the acceptance notifications and my daughter could not attend. But the accepted students event is not Tisch specific. We actually arranged a separate trip after acceptance and ended up having a much more personalized experience revisiting the school a little later in April.

The date for it used to be in early April, that’s why the invitations went out so early. Getting an invitation meant you were in, and yes, it was before the April 1 notification date. It looks like they’ve pushed back the date for it til late April so no longer any need for the mid-March letter/email.
