NYU CAS and Stern

My first choice school within NYU is definitely Stern, but statistically I know I have a better chance of getting into CAS. There is a checkbox on the application about whether I would like to be considered for other schools if I don't get into Stern.

If I select "yes" on this checkbox, would I automatically be considered for CAS if I don't get into Stern? I really wouldn't mind going to CAS but my first choice is Stern, so I would like to apply there! I really wish we could apply to multiple schools within NYU!

Thanks!

I have this question as well and would love an answer! :)

I believe that by checking the box, you’re pretty much checking a box saying that you could be considered for lsp. After a little bit in lsp you would go into CAS. I had the same problem you guys are having. I had a 3.6 gpa, but just went for broke and applied for stern, rather than CAS. I got in and all is good. Just believe in yourself and you’ll be fine.

I think that if the admissions committee doesn’t think you’re a good fit for Stern, but a good fit for NYU, they would then consider you for your second choice. But I’m not really sure. Also, you cannot be “LSP’d” if you apply to Stern, so giatns4210’s post doesn’t really apply.

If you get rejected from Stern, you can’t be placed into CAS. Either you’re accepted/rejected from Stern. If you apply to CAS and get rejected, there’s a chance you might be put into LSP. Like @superexcited said above, you cannot be put into LSP if you apply to Stern.

I hope this helped! Good-luck!

So if I do not get into Stern, will I be rejected from NYU? Will I not offered a spot in CAS?

@question13 If you get rejected from Stern, you will be rejected from NYU altogether. It’s not possible to get into CAS after being rejected from Stern.
