NYU Chances at Stern/College of Arts & Sciences

Chances. I know there are a ton of these threads, but if you could tell me mine I'd really appreciate it.

Indian/Male
Living in New York
Preferred Major: Economics

GPA:

This is pretty much the weak part of my application. I've taken Honors/AP everything except for English junior year.

Unweighted: 84
Weigheted: 92 (3.6)
I believe I'm in the top 25%, I'm not sure as the guidence office has been having "problems" compiling the data

TEST SCORES:

1440/1600 SAT
690 - Physics SATII
690 - US History SATII
690 - MathII SATII
720 - MathI SATII

AP Physics: 3

ESSAYS:

They are good. I've given them out to a couple of writers I know, and in turn all of them have given me a thumbs up. So I'm fairly confident with them.

RECCOMENDATIONS:

I have 3, one of my teachers really went the mile one it, so it's sparkling.

EXTRA CURRICULARS:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Over the summer of 2004, I built my own computer and then constructed a recording studio running ProTools 8.0, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Audition, and Fruity Loops Studio 5 (with 20 drum kits including Roland TR-808).

• Started a rap band in December of 2003. Recorded throughout the summer and released first album in October of 2004. The CD circulated/downloaded to 4,000 copies. Currently working on second album expecting a January 2007 release date.

• Over the summer of 2006, I spent time at Scion Municipal Hospital in Bombay, India. I shadowed a prominent Neurologist, Dr. Alok Sharma who let me view various neurological surgical procedures underneath the guidance of him and his team. I was viewed a procedure where Dr. Sharma’s team occluded a ruptured aneurysm in the cerebral artery of the patient. I also viewed another procedure where Dr. Sharma’s team removed abscesses from the intracranial region of the patient’s brain.

• I am currently the treasurer of the film making club at Mahopac High School. My responsibilities involve directing audio sequences, making the soundtrack for the film, and acoustical related work.

• I published an article at www.BodyBuilding.com community forum on how to use whey protein for optimal gains in teenagers. The article states the importance of timing of whey protein intake (morning, pre/post workout) and consumption quantity (based on bodyweight).

• I plan on publishing another article on how to incorporate bodybuilding lifestyle (meal timing, workout type per body type, and supplement use) into a teenager’s day to day schedule.

Chances?

I will apply to where ever I have a higher chance of getting in - be it Stern of the College of Arts & Sciences. So ideally I'd like to know my chances for both.

Thanks tons!

stern will be very tuff with that gpa

I'd say you have a shot. Try to get that GPA up a bit. All you E/C are amazing, you're very unique. Try to focus on that in your app and you should be fine.

Thanks, I have shook off my senioritis and I'm trying harder with my grades

Stern looks to be the hardest part of NYU to get in (based on general opinon), could anyone elaborate on my chances at CaS?

CAS- very good chance

weighted GPA of 3.6 is really low for Stern.
