******NYU Class of 2020 RD Discussion******

@Bean98 Your room/suitemate(s) are going to be in a different school than you. Most of your classes will be with students in your school. The only school you wouldn’t have much interaction with is Tandon because they have a whole other campus.

I applied to stern. 1900 SAT, 3.8 UW and 4.34 W GPA.
I got a likely letter from brown over the weekend but still hoping for an NYU acceptance.

@jorjimarie

What do you mean by likely letter from brown? I got 1330/1600 on SAT and gpa of 3.7 . I mean it was already a huge huge reach, but wondering what you mean by likely letter. Thanks!

@Derivativeofx It means they are likely to receive admission to Brown. Congrats @jorjimarie

I am surprised that you can get a likely letter with 1900 SAT and 3.8 UW GPA. Is Brown that easy to get in?

@rocky789 Brown is an ivy and it’s very difficult to get into. However, I don’t think you should try and undermine their success. You haven’t seen the rest of their application and they make decisions on other things than just GPA/SAT.

Thank you @CCSenioritis ! And @rocky789 i believe I got in for my APs and some of my writing was about my Native American heritage, my fathers ancestory is one of the founding tribes of Rhode Island.

@Derivativeofx it’s a letter that says I have been voted likely status and that I should expect an admissions acceptance as long as my achievements remain the same. And an invite to the day on college hill event w travel. They don’t send out a lot and apperently 90-95% who will be accepted don’t get them. I was super surprised but relieved lol

@soccerlover678 i have the same, 3.7, 2310, 35, applied to stern

@jorjimarie

Wow congratz! I still won’t lose my hope! Thanks for clarifying!

@seeniebeenie That’s great to know thanks!

Does anyone know if NYU (or Stern, for that matter) sends “likely letters,” or anything analogous to it?

@HSsenior1997 They do not. There are some admissions theories but other than that you have to wait until April 1.

I applied for Stern… My superscore for SAT is 2260 and my GPA is 95/100 (my school doesn’t do 4.0) . However, I am international student… I feel like everyone on this forum has SAT’s of 2300+ when applying for Stern. Do I have a very slim chance now? Like do most accepted Stern students have 2300+ SAT score?

@ZaGongShow Honestly I wouldn’t fret about a lower SAT score too much. Colleges look at your application as a whole, so if you maybe didn’t do so well in one area you can redeem yourself in other sections of your application. Not to mention that 2260 doesn’t seem like a terrible score at all! (Although I am unfamiliar with the SAT, but the internet is telling me that 2260 equals about a 33 on the ACT, which is an awesome score!)

Does anybody know when they’ll start sending admissions notifications and if they’ll be thru email or portal first? Thanks XD

@tigerc325 probably April 1st at 5 pm on NYU Albert. The mail would come shortly after I believe

Hi all! I was wondering if anybody (maybe current students) had a second to tell what my chances are!!

-SAT: 2010
-ACT: 32
-GPA: 4.34W
-478 Hours of Community service
-ASB Treasurer, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, debate captain
-founder of an active LGBT social awareness club
-CSF and NHS
-full AP schedule

I talked to my counselor and shared my essays. She told me that she thought that I had a really strong shot.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

@gagondalwala What’s your UW GPA and what school did you apply to? You have a pretty solid shot bar Stem and Tisch, but your SAT is below CAS’s average. Good luck!

@adreamer22 CAS first choice as an International relations major and then the Liberal Studies core and Gallatin!! and UW GPA is 3.9
