*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2020 Discussion*****

@SquadGoals I got Shanghai too.

Ok cool. I think if you applied to another campus you get an interview, but yeah thanks @lucas1998

@SquadGoals Interviews for NYUSH are mandatory for all applicants, competitive or not, and there is a Candidate Weekend for competitive NYUAD students. Very, VERY few people get interviews for NYUNY just due to the sheer volume of applicants. But keep in mind, interviews for NYUNY do NOT in any way indicate your likelihood of being accepted. If I were you, I’d shrug off not receiving an interview for NY.

Is anyone else having difficulty getting to housing.nyu.edu? I can be on my computer, logged into Albert, logged out of Albert, or on my phone service provider data and the website will not load

@mbaker122 The website isn’t loading for me either. It could be an internal server error, or NYU may have ceased access to the page due to the large amount of housing applications being sent in from non-accepted, unenrolled students who just heard of the housing change theory. If this is the case then there will be no way to accurately indicate admission prior to the decision deadline, apart from the ever-unreliable FA change that seems to become less and less accurate.

I can access the page fine. No need for that long winded theory lol

@renegade23 I’m not partial to the theories, but I actually cannot access the housing page from any computer or phone, which is quite unusual considering you and others can.

i honestly think they just saw our apps first if you got housing change

If you want stats,

GPA: No idea I have 1 B+ and the rest is in the A range. School only ranks deciles so I’m top 10%.
SAT: 2330 (730 CR 800 M 800 WR)
SAT 2: 790-730-720-720

and applied Stern

@adreamer22 Interviews for NYUSH are not mandatory they are optional if you do indeed receive an invitation. Having personally received an invitation and interviewed myself, I can say this with full certainty. Also, not everyone is given the opportunity to interview.

As stated on their website, “all competitive US and International students for NYU Shanghai are interviewed for admission; competitive Chinese students attend a Candidates Weekend”. My interviewer said that all interviews for NYUSH would be completed by January 28th as well.

I completely agree. I got the housing change as well, but I live in Canada. Also I think they fixed the FA change because it looks like no one get that yet.

@adreamer22 @mbaker122 To access the housing page, check https://housing.nyu.edu/apply. The link works for me.

For all the NYU Shanghai interviewees do you still remember who interviewed you? @Lucas1998 @theniqqa23 @anyone else lol

@SquadGoals I do remember who interviewed me, but this link that I’m providing will be the most helpful if you are trying to determine which interviewer conducts skype or phone interviews in your area.

@kdr2698 Oh, it works for me now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi there! Good luck to everybody!!
Can you chance me?

I applied to CAS EDII

International student, 3.9 GPA, 1880 SAT (590-700-590), took the toefl sunday (Hope it went well!)
Very good recs and essays
Ecs= Italian national sailing team, CAS (IB requirements), exchange program for a semester

Last week Beau Benson (from the admissions office) emailed me asking more infos about my sailing activities and achievements… is it a good signal?

Thank youuu,

@paovaci , Hi Paovaci! Your GPA seems good to me. Definitely your SAT is lowered than their medium, so i will think that may hurt you a bit. Personally i hold that recs and essays can be very subjective so i can’t comment on those. Your Italian national sailing team may be a extraordinary EC but due to lack of knowledge of it i cannot say anything about that either. I won’t consider it as a good sigh because maybe simply they just want to be holistic in considering a candidate.
Good luck!

@booyakah would you mind showing us your stats?

ACT: 33
gpa: 3.83
AP’s: six 5’s and one 4 (seven in total)
Challenging senior year course load (taking 6 AP’s)
EC’s: Solid list of EC’s with leadership positions in both sports (soccer and rugby) and community service.
Very good recs
I also took 2 SAT subject tests, but didn’t send them because my AP scores are better

Hey guys! What should the FA change to and from what to indicate acceptance (according to the theory)?
