Hi guys, I’ve been checking the housing website for 2 weeks now and I checked again about half an hour ago and I got the housing change. I was deferred from ED1 to ED2. Does this mean I got in?
if being brutally honest, people who did not receive a housing change (but applied for housing in nyu) and applied as ED2, should not even expect it to occur at this point.
since nyu already has started to make changes for RD applicants, it indicates that they are most likely done with ED2 applications and they started the process of admissions for RD applicants. so they have already updated the profiles (and yeah, housing change indicates admission for 99.9999%) and they now are considering RD students, since they have that many applicants this year again. so there is no any sassy hint in their behavior or anything; they just updated profiles for those who got in, and left nothing for those who didnt. and yep, I’m totally and brutally honest - if they are already busy with RD people, it is obvious that first they had to be finished with ED2 applicants. (they do not consider rd first or they do not mix rd applications with ed applications; they have a month and a half to be done with ed2 and they do not start rd, unless being done with ed ones). thus, in my opinion and mine only - do not expect any more housing changes for applicants of ED2.
everything basically works this way: nyu does consider applications by their priority - I mean - ed1 first and ed2 second and rd as the last one and as I said, they do not mix them. when people applied as ed1, nyu most likely could not start considering applications for ed2, because many students (believe me) waited until 31st of December to submit them. but when it comes to ed2 and rd, they can directly finish the admission process of ED2 applicants even before 20th of Jan or even earlier (for example) and start considering RD ones, because definitely way more people applied as rd than any other ed (because of that ability to compare FA or whatever) thus, most of their time they will devote for those - at least - 30k RD applicants. and as you see, since RD chances started to disperse, probably there is no hope left for those who applied as ED2 and still did not get a change. I am sorry for being such a “pessimist”, but the logic occurs here; not desperation caused by a broken faith.
and maybe I would not be that sure of that all if people of RD would not start getting their changes now. but they do, so the process for ED2 is just most likely over. bye bye nyu
@creed67 yaaaay most likely yeah, congrats! awwww (but weird for me due to what I wrote above)
and yaaay, I’m a happy owner of unchanged housing status. <:-P
@creed67 The fact that you got the change is a huge indicator that this really means something. If it was given to every applicant, you would have gotten it the first time during ED1 and it would’ve been the same up until now . Really seems like an indicator of acceptance.
@classlena you don’t think it’s a possibility that there are many groups doing the applications and that even though a certain group began RD, ED hasn’t finished? because if that person above got the change today, i definitely think there’s hope for you
I thought the same when I saw this person getting a change but nobody has ever told me how nyu admissions may work like - I mean, I have no idea how their admission process looks like. do they sit around the table and talk out loud about one’s app or what gosh, I am not even waiting for that change anymore I guess. that would be a miracle if I’d get it. however, I am really trying to figure out how do they do that stuff; they are sooo unpredictable. @pizzaandpeonies thank you by the way for such words, I will try my best not to panic that much anymore hahahaha
@classlena I got housing change for CAS but I think they only changed it for CAS because I have not heard anybody from other schools that got housing change last time. So if people apply for CAS and don’t have the change they are probably rejected… But for people who apply for other schools, there are definitely hope!
Do we need to apply for housing reservation ( by paying $1000.00) before we get the results? Since the amount is , I believe non- refundable.
Of course
@kker98 someone who applied to tandon reported a change
@Puchku no, you do not apply for housing before the results
Ok…thanks @pizzaandpeonies
excuse me for those capital letters but I need to know it asap
IS THERE ANYBODY HERE
WHO GOT HOUSING CHANGE
AND APPLIED
TO
G A L L A T I N???
still weary that the housing change means anything because i suck so much and can’t imagine nyu wanting me LOL all of u guys are so accomplished and smart and i feel like a phony
noooo of course not! they do not look just at your stats if by this you claim that you are not a good choice for them. they look for unique people who are impressive in some way and you definitely are! you deserve so much to get in and i will be freaking happy along with you when you will receive your acceptance letter @pizzaandpeonies
@classlena Yes, I got the change and I’ve applied to Gallatin EDII
How does the housing thing work for people who put AD or SH as their first campus. Do you still get housing changes?
so yeah, now I am just sure that i didnt get in. and there is no hope left in me at this point that i will ever get any housing change or whatever
Has anyone gotten a financial aid change yet? Ivycoach was a tr(o)ll (why is that word censored) account btw
@classlena AW this was so sweet thank you i’ll be freaking out with you too!!
