*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2020 Discussion*****

Is every applicant required to submit the CSS PROFILE when applying to nyu? What happens if we don’t?

@ingyin No, you’re not required, I didn’t submit mine. I think it just means you won’t get considered for any financial aid.

thanks @curiousminds01 ! good luck =)

@ingyin Thanks, you too!

Hey guys I applied to NYU early decision 2 but I meant to apply regular decision because I don’t take my ACT until Feb. I won’t get my score back in time before the ED2 date. What do I do??

@LOAWorks Definitely contact admissions as soon as they get back from the Holiday break.

Hey guys, I need your advice. NYU Gallatin is absolute DREAM SCHOOL but currently i have an 1800 on my SAT, so I don’t know if i should send it in or not.
I am currently in the IB and have an average predicted grade, but after Jan 15th my scores are going to be re-evaluated and my school will send my universities and updated predicted grade- which I expect will have a boost of 6 points (due to circumstances I was in due to last time I took my exams in November).
Is it a good idea to send an 1800 in?

Hello Everyone. I applied to RD yesterday, but I feel like doing Early Decision 2, so I emailed them. Will they agree? ,Moreover, I just found out that NYU accepts my british curriculum and SAT is optional. Although, I have straight As, my SAT is weak like 1910 for Stern. Can I cancel those scores which have already been sent? My School grades will definitely give me a boost, so will my ECS. Lastly, is it harder to get in ED than RD?
I look forward to your response.

@LOAWorks they will not take your Feb score neither as ED nor RD. I have contacted admissions to ask what should I do to make them consider mhy January 23rd SAT score; thay said that most likely RD, but on 90% they will not do so since those scores will be way too late.

@trign0metry yeah, some people have sent 1600 hahahahaha so no worries

@thepatzae ugh are you sure?
because i was 100% sure i was NOT going to send them in, until I saw the ED1 thread where someone posted about getting in with a 1730 I think. so that kind of boosted my confidence lmao

Could someone chance me for Stern ED2? Any type of comment is welcome!

SAT: Did not Submit (Opted for the 3 SAT Subject test option. Didn’t feel like my SAT score was good enough)

GPA: 3.76 UW (my school doesn’t weigh)

Sat Subject Test: 730 Math 1, 600 US History, 800 Spanish

Toefl: 105/120

Class Rank: 7/42 (Pretty tough class. My class already has an acceptance from Princeton, Duke, Northwestern, and in this round most likely Harvard, Wharton, Notre Dame, and Brown. Last year, a senior got accepted into Stern so a lot of top-tier universities accept students from my school).

I have taken 7 AP courses but didn’t submit any scores. Took almost every AP my school has to offer.
AP World History in 10th
AP Spanish Lang and AP U.S. History in 11th
Currently taking AP Calc AB, AP Psychology, AP English Lit, and AP Spanish Lit in my senior year.

Did not ask for financial aid.

Acceptances: I only applied early action to Northeastern, Fordham, and University of Miami. I got accepted into Northeastern and Fordham and I will not be hearing from UM until February. Applied ED to Cornell but that didn’t go as planned.

I am an international student from Bolivia, South America. Let’s say you had to chance me solely based on these facts. Imagine that my EC’S, recommendations, and both the common app and the supplementary essays are just what Stern looks for (they look pretty good to me). Do you think I could make the cut? Thank you very much!

Also, I have read from previous year’s posts that the requirements are, ''Three SAT II Subject Test scores (one in literature or the humanities, one in math or science, and one non-language test of the student’s choice). I took US History (Humanities), Math level 1 (math), and Spanish (my choice). I am a native Spanish speaker though…

However, in this year’s NYU webpage under the standardized testing policy, this appears:

Students who submit SAT Subject Test, AP, or IB scores (for students not submitting an IB Diploma) must submit:

One literature or humanities score;
One math or science score;
And a score from one test of the student's choice in any subject.

As you can see, nothing related to non-language appears as for the third subject exam. Do you think that it should be implied that I shouldn’t have taken Spanish? Will it hurt my admission decision? I mean, when I registered for these exams, the word ‘‘non-language’’ didn’t appear so I thought I was allowed to take any exam of my choice, including Spanish. It seams as if they took it down this year or something… I know there is nothing I can do about it now but I just don’t want to keep banging my head against the wall over this, specially if I didn’t submit the normal SAT. Thank you, and please, any type of comment/critic/opinion is welcome. This is the standardized tests policy webpage if you want to check it out: http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/apply/freshmen-applicants/instructions/standardized-tests.html

This emoji fits me perfectly. [-O<

Hey dude! I’m not a stern applicant, meaning I’m not the best person to chance you for it, so take this with a grain of salt. I think your Gpa and your class rank are fine, and the fact you took almost every AP your school offered will help a lot. However, I do think you might have a problem with your SAT score. Your history score is kinda low for NYU, and lots of stern applicants submit really high Math ii scores instead of math i scores. Additionally, I’ve read somewhere (can’t remember if it was collegeboard or NYUs website) that the purpose of the sat language tests was to measure your linguistic capacities in a language that you’ve learned in high school, not your native language. This is kind of annoying because when I took my SAT German, my percentile was low even though I had a good score, because lots of German kids took the test so they could get an 800 easily. Anyway, hope this helps - Good luck!

hey guys! good luck to everyone! i was wondering if a 31 ACT score is okay for NYU? my GPA is definitely on the lower end for nyu (but then again i know different schools of nyu differ) so i was hoping my ACT was closer to its average

@pizzaandpeonies I have a 31 too but my GPA is above the mean. which school are u applying for? I did CAS

Am I the only one whose Net ID is not working?

@LOAWorks I would make sure to call the admissions office.

@pizzaandpeonies yes you definitely have a chance :slight_smile:
