*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2020 Discussion*****

Hi everyone! I applied to Steinhardt MCC and got a mail saying that while they could not grant me admission right now, they have decided to defer me to the Early Decision II round. Now, I know NYU doesn’t defer (under normal circumstances) so I was confused about this. Did this happen to anyone else? What do you think this means?

@creed67 ((anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong but…)) NYU does defer - it’s just a very small percentage that get deferred. it’s happened to people before. i think this can be seen as a positive thing for you, since they didn’t outright reject you. i would definitely not lose hope

@renegade23 I’ve had several people look over it for me, including current NYU students.

@dehca2016 I’m not calling into question the validity of your statements or saying your essay is bad. I’m just saying it is so arbitrary and biased for a single person, or anyone who doesn’t work for admissions, to rate your essay. Again, I’m not trying to argue with you, just a view I thought I would share. Good luck!

Oh absolutely. I agree and I don’t like the rating system, but it’s so widely used here I decided it would be easiest to answer that way

is it only me who do not have anything “special” written on Albert? I mean, there is nothing said about to which major I applied, everything is literally empty. Is it something wrong with it? help!!

@classlena Yeah it is the same for me. When I click app status, it just brings me to the checklist with everything clicked and a box that says what campus I applied to and when I submitted my app. Not sure if it should be something else

@renegade23 i have heard that some people have their campus to which they applied to - written there, and major and everything, so i just got confused

Sooooo there is a minor mistake in my supplemental essay that doesn’t affect the integrity of the essay as a whole. How much do you guys think that will affect the decision that I sent in a not perfect essay? I’m so paranoid lol. I just need to sleep for the next month until decisions come out.

can somebody explain me why already I have a chance to apply for Fall 2016 housing in NYU? can everybody do it at this point or what? what is happening? 8-X

@classlena I think everybody can do that. I guess it’s only meaningful if your status changes from non-renewable undergrad to freshman. For the ED1 round that only happened the night before they heard back tho, or something like that

so in the best case, we can get that change on 14th of Feb? ok, thanks for info. i have freaked out @NYUDreamer1

Trust me @classlena, I know the feeling.
Btw do you guys think there’s a chance we might hear back on the 12th instead of the 15th?

noooooooooooooo, better not. last year we got our decisions on 13th, starting from midnight EST. this year i would like it better if they could do it just on time pls hahahaha. @NYUDreamer1

@creed67 do you mind sharing your stats? I applied for MCC as well.

@classlena why are you so bothered about getting them early?

I am in a bad situation, because I have submitted the SAT score that seriously hurts my application and I have microscopic hope that they will consider my Jan 23rd scores that will be available on 11th of Feb. that is probably impossible, but getting decisions even earlier would be even worse for me. but I don’t know, i think that I will be rejected anyways. @renegade23

@classlena Why would you wait till the Jan test date to take the SAT? I guarantee they will either not see them at all or they won’t really care that far into deciding your application.

because I have no any other date to take SAT? and my previous one sucks that hard that I have mentioned them that I would love to also send my Jan scores, if possible. even if it will not work out and they will not see them, I am gonna take the test anyway and send them scores. at least I tried to beg them to consider those lately and whatever will happen, it will be fine. with my luck, anything can happen hahaha. but yeah, I am totally conscious that for 98% they won’t even see them and that is ok, but it is better to try, rather than to be upset later because of not trying. @renegade23

Where even is the area on Albert to register for housing and what will the change be?
