*****NYU Early Decision 2 Class of 2020 Discussion*****

that’s exactly how I felt too - surprised that mine changed with low gpa and ACT

@julianag7 i know of someone who got in with practically your exact stats. don’t knock yourself down!

@julianag7 @clkodu98739 What school

@renegade23 I applied to CAS for psychology, I was initially going to apply for Stern but thought it was too far fetched haha.

I really cant get upset if I don’t get in my stats are horrible - the change to freshman too good to be true - no coincidence that @curiousminds01 stats much better but there must be someone else on this thread that still has Freshman - @curiousminds01 cant be the only person that still has it

CAS school

the only thing that really doesn’t make sense to me is why would it have even changed in the first place?

So in the grand scheme of things what does this whole changing back thing mean?

that’s a great question because it didn’t change for everyone so it was a good assumption that the change meant admission. Now it is weird that most went back to non renewable except so far one person (I am sure we will hear of more that have not gotten back). We could try to figure this out - glitch, change of mind, etc - we will never really know but it will be interesting to see if after decisions are released if there was some kind of correlation. I will keep checking to see if mine goes back to freshman but at this point highly unlikely. Also, I heard that most colleges do go on CC so maybe that has something to do it -

@pizzaandpeonies The idea is that the housing system is linked to the admissions system and that, possibly, when you were accepted and designated ‘accepted’ in the system, it triggered a change on the housing page as it now thought you were a freshman. Maybe. Idk

I wish I never got the change because I am let down now - were there any previous posts in previous years that this happened?

From the top of my head, I can think of two solid reasons:

  1. Realized everyone figured out that housing meant acceptance/rejection and rebooted the system to avoid making rejected people feel down and accepted people eager beforehand.
  2. Anything before today didn't mean anything and from now on, every change is considered official.

.

@clkodu98739 it’s unrealistic that they would take away acceptances, so i think we can rule that out…? i can confirm to you though, because i’m pretty active on this thread, that most people i remember getting the change as well has had it switch back. all, by the way, have incredible stats (from what i remember) that are at and even above NYU’s standards, so i wouldn’t come to quick conclusions or put yourself down too much.

I am thinking your reason #2 is the right one - we should check over the next couple of days to see additional changes - anyone else still have Freshman?

@renegade23 If that’s the case then why would it change back from freshmen to non renewable? Did they accept you and then reject you? To me that makes absolutely no sense.

@booyakah Well we can then look to the possible idea that @RSalvatierra had that it is a reboot of the system or a fix of the reveal this early.

WOW WOW WOW
Chill out fellows. This change back doesn’t mean any rejection or change of mind at all.
Look at those who have house change, at least majority of them are competitive (ACT 30+, SAT 2100, APS, ECS)
Be confident in yourselves, guys.
Since we at the first place had the change. That’s not random. it changed for a reason.

My guess is: as the admission office finalize this whole process, they may straighten up the whole system, including the housing. Some people may start application, whether intentionally or not, by mistake. That may be the way they deal with this issue.

There are people with no house change at all.
TWO BAR BOTH PRINTED NON-RENEWABLE. That is not a good sign.

Please, be optimistic!

no woes me I got into other schools as back up not the end of the world if I don’t get into nyu my first choice but I wont be crying by any means

@RSalvatierra
i don’t agree with your second point.
I have a feeling that house status will never change from this point.
