NYU ED1 Class of 2017 Discussion Thread

soooo do we hear back BY dec 15, starting dec 15, or no later than dec 15? they said on the website that dec 15 is the notification date but i feel like i’ve browsed through past discussions on here before and everyone hears at different times…
do we get rejections by email too? do they send ANY snail mail?

after 5 pm on the 15th. i’m assuming all decisions will be out by the end of the 15th (midnight), but not sure. i’m pretty sure ALL decisions are sent email, so rejections too. no clue on snail mail, but i’d assume that they send letters after the emails are all out.

Last year everyone (actually, not sure about internationals) heard on December 15. The first notifications (sent in the morning) were rejections. Later in the day beginning, about 3:00pm, hints of acceptances started to come out.

At first there were changes to people’s Albert accounts…some people saw a financial aid offer, others saw something on their home page to click on to officially accept NYU’s offer. These changes were shortly followed by an email from NYU. I think I saw something on Albert at about 3:15. D got her official email at 3:46 pm. The message line was “Your NYU admissions decision”. Good luck everyone!

did they say what time decisions would be made last year? because they might have changed it-- the nyu website says that decisions will be sent out after 5 pm, unless i read it wrong…

They said the same thing last year. But that’s not what happened.

oh no! haha, i live in japan, so I was planning on waking up at 7 on the 16th (5 on the 15th in ny) to check… but I won’t be able to sleep knowing I could get my decision sooner… haha, thank you for letting us know!

so, no chance of getting them earlier? ahhh having an exact time almost makes it worse. that will be such a nervous day.

Anyone else applying to Steinhardt for Classical Vocal Performance or Opera? Not worth chancing for this major - audition is everything! I could cry I’m so anxious for Dec 15.

I sent my SAT score to NYU on Oct.25, but Albert still shows that my SAT score is missing. Is anyone else in this situation? Do I have to re-send my SAT score to them?

anyone else applied or applying to Steinhardt’s Food Studies program?

I applied to Steinhardt for Media, Culture, and Communications. The amount that I want to go to NYU is freaky. I can’t even think about the fact that we’ll be finding out in 21 days. I’m dyinggg.

how important is course rigor?

I have daily freakouts about getting into NYU and this one is about course rigor… I’M SO LACKING. I’ll only have 1 AP and 4 Honors (1 of those being newspaper)!

if my GPA is pretty good, ECs are pretty good, and SAT is pretty good… how important are APs and honors? I applied to Steinhardt MCC

I think 1 AP & 4 honors is good, especially if your GPA is good. if you’re applying for MCC, i’d think newspaper would be a good thing.(:

19 more days!!!

Hi I’m really freaking out because I want to go to nyu more than anything so please chance me (:

I dont know im just really nervous HELP

and thanks in advanced (:

Haha, oh man. I wasn’t nervous until I read that we don’t get notified until the afternoon. I was hoping I could just wake up and check. Now I think I’m going to go out with my friends to take the edge off before checking.

18 days…ahhh…did anyone else get a little booklet about the major they applied for?

Hopefully the booklet is a good sign.

Any ideas on what to do on that Saturday? I know I’ll go crazy if I stay home constantly checking the computer. Morning will be death for me. :(

booklet?! oh god, does that mean if I didn’t get one I didn’t get in? I’ve applied to Tisch.

And do you know if we get that email that tells us to “save the date” for the accepted students orientation on our calendars before we get accepted that RD applicants get? I’ve heard it’s kind of a hint that you’re accepted but I’m not sure if they do it for ED.
