NYU ED1 Class of 2017 Discussion Thread

i don’t understand why it would say 2012

yeaa me neitherr /: idk maybe its cuz I did the Precollege program and the same accounts are set up and that was in 2012 so maybe thts why… idk tho probably not /:

This is so ridiculously confusing. I know admissions and financial aid says that it doesn’t mean anything, but I honestly feel like it does. Just my opinion.

@collegebound7895 yes I did apply for financial aid. But I know someone that didn’t apply for financial aid and they have the same thing. Both of ours changed from either CAS or Gallatin to LSP. We’re both fairly strong candidates and are even stronger for LSP…

well i did the precollege program but i didnt apply for FA for that…

I didn’t either but i think they set up an FA page like that for everyone regardless of whether or not they applied for FA… I didn’t apply for FA to NYU this year for example.

@correkid wait you know someone that didn’t apply for financial aid and has the award access thing for 2013?

No it’s for 2014

@dwarnock I agree with you in that I think that they’re setting up a fa page for everyone. But do you think that if you have one of these pages, this means you’re going to be accepted? That’s the real question…

quick question what does everyones “admit type” say on their application status

also lets not forget that nyu is a need blind school, your chance for a student loan and chance for admission are thus completely separate and reviewed at different time, also keep in mind your familys income level, if you fall into a high 6 figure salary range you are very unlikely to get financial aid so dont worry! but more importantly remember Nyu is NEED BLIND!!

new freshman

and @textbook345, i don’t think our concern is how much we get; it is whether it tells you if we are accepted or not

@textbook345 “new freshman” it’s been there since the beginning when we got our Albert login and everything

My opinion: If your FA has any year whatsoever, like 2013 or 2014, THAT’S GOOD. Is it better to have 2013 over 2014? No, why would that be better? Is it worse? Of course not… they’re both referring to the same aid year, so I doubt it matters.

My honest opinion: If you do not have a year at this point, like a 2014 or a 2013, it’s not looking so good for you.

That being said, I have no idea! That’s just my guess.

But I’m getting a little annoyed hearing people who have 2014 freak out because they don’t have a 2013… a few posts back someone said they called the FA office, and that 2013 and 2014 are the same thing… and it doesn’t matter which one you have.

EVERYONE CALM DOWN.

anyone up for tinychatroom on the 18th?!

@37183718 i understand that i just wanted people to know that even if it says 2014 financial aid (or whatever) it does not necessarily correlate to you getting accepted to the school since the review process for both admission and financial aid is separate

I’m in the same boat…I have 2012 and 2013 is that bad

Watching this thread because a neighbor’s son is also waiting for his ED decision. My daughter is a freshman at NYU now so I saw this go down last year.

I’m going to share something with all of you understandably nervous applicants that maybe the next 3 posters will actually read and then somebody else will post something about some change in Albert financial aid that everyone that follows will try to analyze and nobody will read anything above from that point on. But for the 3 of you that actually might read this I offer:

You can look over last year’s and the previous year’s posts in CC and just substitute your cc names for those year’s names and realize EVERY year people try to read into what they see in Albert (all of the same stuff you’re seeing now) , or calls to NYU etc, and NONE OF it ever means anything. You are not in until you are in nor out until you are out.

The admissions webpage will give a date that the results will come out in an email and will also imply that there will be no notice in Albert. That is NOT how it went down last year (during the RD round anyway.) There WAS a change in Albert before the date that they claimed the notice would come out AND before any email came out.

The change in Albert was that suddenly there was a link to an admission decision. NONE of the other stuff that many spin cycles in CC meant anything. LOOK FOR THAT CHANGE and don’t read into anything else.

Now feel free to ignore this as everyone after about the 3rd person to read it will do. For the 3 of you that do read it, keep checking for the decision link to appear in Albert. It is the only change that you’ll see there that means anything. The RD decision last year came out on a Thursday so don’t believe the whole “it will come out after business hours on a Friday” rumor thing either. It will come out when it comes out.

Best of luck to one and all! Now feel free to ignore me because I know these threads have a life of their own and it’s exciting and fun to speculate. It’s a cool school and I don’t blame you for being anxious.

@textbook345 that makes sense, but then why do i have something popping up when i didn’t even apply for FA? and some people who did still don’t have anything.

i guess we’ll be able to tell next years ED applicants what all of this means, but we’re gonna have to figure out on the 18th.

sorry but your wrong!! even if you dont have 2013 or 2014 its not bad since Nyu is NEED BLIND hence admissions and finacial aid are completely seperate there have been cases where students from need bliind schools have been awarded aid but then rejected from the college, need blind means aid is only given bassed on your css profile and not your application
