@halflokum thank you! i’m glad you posted that.

@halflokum thanks! I read it all :)

@textbook345 is deff right… what he/she is saying is the only interpretation that makes sense.

@halflokum is absolutely right ! and @leggggy it could be for merit bassed or whatever, the main thing is disregard the financial aid thing because it DOESNT MATTER AT ALL. nyu is NEED BLIND. so we should alll just listen to @halflokum and just look for the link and disregard financial aid

Thanks Halflokum!

OK leggy, textbook345 and ohdogg, you are my 3. The rest will ignore me and go back to analyzing financial aid WHICH MEANS NOTHING!!!. Glad that I could help you 3 out Hopefully 1 of 2 more might actually read. I’m a mom and I’ve also got a junior who will go through this next year. I feel your pain and I’m not making fun of you. BUT… with humility, I’m also not wrong because I had a front row seat to it last year. Good luck!!!

how far in advance did the post on albert come out in respect to the actual notification date?

@halflokum then what do you make of the change to Liberal Studies Core Program for some applicants?

@magfri good question. The RD decision came out a little after 3 PM East coast time on Thurs, 3/29 last year but I don’t remember what the actual published date was. What is it this year? 4/1? I do remember that 3/29 was several days before the published notification date.

@correkid, that is the one thing that “might” mean something but what it means, I do not know. I could mean that the applicant is under consideration for LSP admission and if originally they were seeking another program but had checked the LSP box I suppose one could conclude that the admission decision is now about LSP. I would not assume it means “accepted” for LSP until you get the acceptance. I’m not an authority on the subject because it didn’t pertain to us (daughter is in Tisch auditioned based program so she was either in or out and LSP was not an option). Don’t go by what I say on this subject because I don’t know but do remember it happening last year. Search last year’s CC threads on the subject and draw your own conclusions please.

thanks @halflokum !!! That’s calms my nerves a bit but also makes me stress out a bit more haha. I’m not sure when the date is for RD… probably 4/1. 12/18 for ED ahhhhh!

@anoeltner, glad to help and hurt??? If it were me, I’d just keep watching Albert for the decision link probably checking starting later this week hoping for an early holiday present which by the way, may not come early. But I do promise that trying to second guess what you see with respect to financial aid is a red herring. Just watch for the link.

Question!!! Is it possible to have applied to Stern, but also apply to LSP. According to my research, you’re not allowed to apply to LSP if your applying to Stern.

Can someone validate that research? I read it in an article here:

[The Liberal Studies Program, Explained · NYU Local](http://nyulocal.com/on-campus/2011/02/07/the-liberal-studies-program-explained/)

Quote, “Stern famously doesn’t offer a transfer from LSP.”

I’m really confused about how you guys are seeing your number and the whole Albert account thing? What is that?

… @ohdogg this is completely new to me i was under the impression that when you applied to nyu you only applied to your selected school and that school only , i applied to Stern and only stern. im pretty sure you cannot apply to two colleges in nyu. however i may be wrong but i think im right

This is the timeline for last year’s ED1 decisions:

Some people did see tabs come up for Liberal Studies a few days before Dec. 15, but it was inconclusive as to whether they indidcated a rejection from CAS etc. or fi that tab even indicated an acceptance into LSP ultimately.

On decision day (Dec. 15 for last year’s applicants) the first posts were all from rejected applicants. The first person who posted a rejection did so at 8:38 am.

Rejections from all NYU schools continued to be emailed to applicants through to the early afternoon.

No one who was rejected reported any changes to their Albert accounts that might have indicated a rejection.

HOWEVER, at 3:17 pm the first post was made from someone who could now see their financial aid summary. By this I mean there was a tab that opened to actual numbers. This was a definite indication of acceptance. People also reported at the same time that they were also able to view and register for events.

At 3:35 the first post came out in which a person was able to see on the first page of their Albert accounr an Accept/ Decline Admissions tab. Again, this was an absolute indication of acceptance.

At 3:44 the first person on the ED1 thread reported receiving an actual email congratulating them on their acceptance.

After that , there were a flood of email acceptances, but there still remained people who saw changes in Albert before they got their email.

In terms of the financial aid tabs that people are seeing, I think the only tab that will indicate acceptance is one that will actually open to an award. This year (for current students) the tab reads 2013. So next year’s will be marked as 2014. Personally I think that what people are seeing is that the financial aid office is finalizing things. I believe that the FAFSA and Profile are probably entered for everyone (those accepted and rejected.) Even if financial aid info was never rec’d, it will still be entered–as not received and an option to take out loans will be offered. Once the Financial Aid office knows who is accepted, final packages will be tabulated and posted. But I doubt they will be able to be viewed way before emails are sent.

If I were guessing, I would like to eventually see a 2014 tab. But I do believe that fin aid right now is a work in progress. I would not hold too much importance to what the tabs show–only whether they can be opened and that actual amounts can be read on Dec. 18.

Good luck everyone!!!

@uskoolfish so then if i didn’t apply for financial aid, and i have a 2014 thing… is that good or bad? or do we not know?

@uskoolfish then how do you explain that some can’t see any year at all, and that some people can see aid years that have already passed? Or are you implying that that all means nothing as well?

@textbook345. Look at section 4B of the NYU supplement that you filled out. There is a question that applies to all programs which asks (paraphrasing) if NYU decides they can’t offer you admission into the program you chose as primary, would you consider admission into another program. If you check “yes” to that question, it opens the door to the LSP program and I assume others.

I’ve always said from the beginning when NYU first notified applicants that they were extending the notification date to the 18th that they might still send out a few decisions on the 15th and the 18th is just a precautionary date for additional applicants that maybe turned in their apps later due to Sandy or what have you
