@ccuser222 - your research just made my day because i have the "2014 award not available" thing.
do you have this change too?

As ckc123456 has said, I’m even more anxious now having seen my FA status change into “Award acess not available”. I can’t wait until Friday. I’m going to go entirely bonkers, as Alice had said once. :S

what if the fa change means nothing?Ive seen many people have it changed now

lol I hear you
Yeah for weird Korean kids who are not perfect in every single test scores

Okay wait, before I die of joy. Are you saying usually people whose status has changed to “2014 award access not available” have been accepted to NYU?

I applied to NYU Stern ED II and this morning I noticed the “2014 - Award access not available.” on the Financial Aid Summary. I’m hoping that it’s a good sign.

However, my “Program” portion of the App Status chart is left blank. Any ideas why?

Oh God, why haven’t I thought of this earlier?! When I have read all about NYU back in January 2012, there was this question that got to me: “Does our financial status affect our application?” Their answer was “No, it doesn’t. The financial aid requests are being reviewed after we have accepted your application.”
Which means: FA status change → our application has been accepted, thus they have moved onto tailoring our financial package and meeting our needs.
Am I doing this right?

I think it would be funny if everyone who got the status change didn’t get in. Maybe this is just NYU’s way of playing mind-games with everyone… OH SNAP

@jwang9526

That actually raises a good question. How would we chance the people who have been receiving the message and the ones who have not? Problem is, a lot of these users (or at least the accounts that they’re using in this conversation) don’t show their stats. But – and this is to everyone – if you research the info of each of the people WITH posted stats on this thread and this thread (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1458444-financial-aid-albert-hint-applicants-who-applied.html), you might see a trend linking people with better stats to the change and the people with comparatively worse stats to not experiencing a change.

after some thought I believe that the people who got the 2014 most likely got an academic scholarship. That’s why they usually get it! On the other hand not receiving an academic scholarship does not mean a rejection. Also people with high stats usually get the FA change because they are the ones to also get academic awards? makes sense?

THEREFORE
for those who got the change: congratz it is probably a good thing
for those who did not get a change it’s neutral!

Are you basing that off of anything?

“I believe” =[

There is no way it is linked to academic scholarship…hahha

NYU is like your stingy uncle who complains about having to give a tip to the waiter…They are not exactly known for handing out academic scholarships or need baised aid.

We’ll get rejected together :’(

both students who got in at my school got MLK scholarships for $30,000 a semester ._.

I had the 2014 thing and got a 26000 scholarship so that theory makes sense. It was a tisch scholarship, not really academic but it was still a scholarship. I don’t think not seeing it is a rejection but I do think seeing it is an acceptance (and possible scholarship).

Does this theory hold true if you are an RD applicant? My son has the 2014 change also.

AN RD APPLICANT GOT IT?!

wow… maybe the two really are not linked…

it’s just MY theory guys!

My son applied RD, but he submitted his materials very early, sometime in October or early November. Maybe his decision has already been made, although he wont be notified until late March.

Haha we just can’t catch a break.
