NYU ED II 2018 Discussion

Anyone applying ED II to NYU New York? Thought this would be a good place to discuss and chat about stats and which school we're applying to. I'm an international applying to Steinhardt.

Which school are you applying to?

Zebrashorts noted it - Steinhardt

Wait never mind just saw it. I’m applyin to stern

Are our chances higher/lower than ED 1, do you guys know?

I think technically, neither, but there really isn’t a way to know. However I will say that in ED2 you’re up against more Ivy rejects…

Well I think ED1 is easier because you aren’t up against ivy rejects but ed2 allows you to take an extra test and show your senior year progress, which is why I picked ED2

Hey guys, I’m applying to NYUAD (Early Decision II). However, I’m struggling with the counselor, because he is not an employee of my former High School.
Well, my former High School is getting restructured and many things have changed there, such as principals and teacher. Hopefully a teacher that has worked with me in a extracurricular project stills teaching there, and she is writing my recommendation letter.

And I’ve found this on the Common App’s Help Center, which gave me more hope: “If you don’t have a counselor because you’ve been out of school for a while, you can enter the contact information for the individual who will be sending the transcript, even if that individual is not a counselor. You may need to contact your high school for this information.”

My counselor has contact with my High School and they already provided the necessary documents to him. However, I’m afraid that the fact that my counselor is not an employee of my former High School will count as a negative point.

hey you guys, I’m applying ED II to NYU New York too for class of 2018. Right now I think I’m applying to Gallatin, it seems to fit me best because I’ve moved so much and acquired so many interests (move like a military brat, but not even; 5 different high schools). But I’m worried about if there’s a stigma that comes with that, like if people don’t consider a “real” major. Not majoring in video games or anything, but I’m thinking something along the lines of a mix between marketing, music business, psychology and creative writing. if not, maybe Stern. and I was worried about if ED II was harder to get accepted to as well but because I recently moved from Georgia to Maryland I wasn’t able to take the SAT when I wanted so I needed time to take another, thus picking ED II. What are you guys’ stats as far as gpa and tests and EC’s?

Did you guys submit your application yet?

hi i am applying to nyu abu dhabi ed2

Do we submit mid year reports? The deadline for that is march 1st and the notification date is feb 15th I think

I haven’t sent in my application. By the way, do you guys know if NYU allows us to submit supporting materials by email? And are u guys in touch with any admissions counselors? I heard they keep it on file…is it true?

Yes, you can send supporting materials by email. There were some problems with the Common App, so I was allowed to resubmit my writing supplement by email.

Hey guys, what form of testing are u submitting? My SAT results arent stellar, below yhe NYU composite average. So i’m considering just sending in my IB/AP grades in…I’m conflicted. Do u think a low SAT score will put me at a disadvantage?

NYU said that they take everything you send into consideration, so you should send as little as possible but also the highest scores. Don’t send extra material if they arent high scores.

Deadlines approaching guys. Are you done with your apps? I need to send in my letters of recommendation from NYU professors

hey guys! do you think it would be better to apply to nyu regular instead of ed ii? i think i would have a good chance (29 act, 3.5 gpa, lots of EC’s, double legacy) because they really like my school, but i don’t want to be up against the ivy rejects
i know i should have applied ED I but i just wasn’t completely sure like i am now that NYU would be the place for me.
thoughts?
