NYU EDII Class of 2017 Discussion Thread

this forum stresses me out like no other. still no change, i want to tell myself it isn’t over but i feel like it is…

^ agreed
I was quite confident but no FA change just crushes my hope over and over every time I check!

I had 2014 on my FA and got a LSP scholarship for $16,000.

Maybe you’re onto something rmui6768…

How/When did they notify you that you received a scholarship? Are the scholarships merit based or need based?

It’s official that I am not going to sleep until I see a change or I get an e-mail.

TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE SEEING A CHANGE. WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?!?!?!

(absolutely no offense intended to those who did not see a change, personally I believe this theory is just that, a theory, and we all still have as much of a chance as we did last month)

Ok honestly guys, do you know what this thread (and our souls) needs right now? A little positivity. What’s done is done, the admissions office has almost certainly sealed all of our fates by now. There is really no use in formulating conjectures and opinions anymore. Arguing over what something does or doesn’t mean is going to get us nowhere because unfortunately (or fortunately) for us, we just won’t know until those godforsaken emails start coming in.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely obsessed with NYU (not a day goes by that I don’t watch the Virtual Tour) and this FA theory has taken hold of my own sanity, too. But frankly, we’ve speculated enough and have said whatever there was to say. Lets not let our anxieties take away from anybody else’s sanity right now. I know how perplexed I am right now, I can’t imagine how confused and small people who haven’t seen a change must be feeling. And for what? We do NOT have concrete evidence about this, and whatever trend we may have studied from past acceptances can most certainly be considered a positive sign but in so doing, it’s becoming a huge cause of worry for others. I’m no one to try to steer the course of this thread lol, but seriously, lets just give it a rest and talk about whats so important to all of us, NYU. :)

Actually, I’ve accepted my rejection and don’t have any regrets applying to NYU.

I’m disappointed and relieved at the same time; I can’t attend this unviersity in fall 2013, but knowing I won’t be traumatized by the rejection letter that will be in my e-mail box this Friday is comforting.

Time to concentrate on school and pass the AP exams.

Hey, don’t think like that! This is only just a theory so far.

Actually, pessimism turning into joy is better than optimism turning into disappointment.

This is why we LOVE underdog stories; although chances are close to none, somehow, someway, those people make it through.

Just my input:)

Oh dear look at the time! I better study for an AP Chemistry test lol.

Dear All,
I say we make a pact.
After we get our decisions we will not disappear like nothing happened but come back to this thread and everyone will write down if he/she has experienced a change and if he/she has been admitted or not. This way we can spare the soul-killing and maddening uncertainty that we have to go through. And I mean maddening, because its 5 am and I could not sleep a tiny bit.
Sincerely yours,
A Stern hopeful who has not experienced change yet.

^That’s a very good idea! Yeah, can someone create a pledge thread, so we can help future applicants.

^ it’s done!

Count me in diak18!

To who ever was asking when you get the 2014 becomes a link. When you click on it it brings you to your financial info page and there it will tell you if you have a scholarship.

As for who asked about if it was need or merit its both. What nyu does is put you into tiers of who they want more whether t be talent EC’s or whatever. These tiers are the merit based. Then they look at your need (from CSS) and they use that to see how much you will get. So two people on the highest tier may not get the same amount because one may need it more than the other. The higher your amount is most likely the higher your tier was.

Sorry if I’m not allowed to post direct links here. But I’ve been so confused by this for the past week. Tisch applicant. Up until a week or two ago the status said “Status : Paid” can anyone even begin to tell me what it means?

Hello fellow ED II applicants! I’m very confused as to this “change” that everyone is talking about. I just accessed Albert for the first time and on financial aid section there is a small column with “2014” and something like “financial aid information not available”. What change are you guys talking about and is it correlated to admission decision? Did everyone receive their financial aid packages already?
If it helps, I have 2130 SAT, 32 ACT, 3.9 W GPA… Average stats. I also turned in my CSS/NCSS financial profile late due to a parental complication, so therefore I did not meet the financial aid deadline. But I still filed the FAFSA on time, so I’m eligible for federal grants. This means they should notify of a federal grant award, right?

I am getting worried now… This is what I see:
Aid Year Institution Aid Year Description
2014 New York University Award access not available.

What change are you guys talking about? Any help would be great, thanks!!
