Do most transfers get to live in a dorm?
Someone got accepted into Stern yesterday
does NYU really consider the alternative school option? like my first choice is Stern and my alternative choice is CAS
I think they do! They might offer you admission in CAS (if you have really strong application) but they will give priority to applicants who have selected CAS as their primary school in the common app
@nyrider Are you serious? I thought Stern’s decision comes out really late :o
Is CAS the second hardest school to get into, except Stern?
@nyrider Was it someone you knew personally who got in?
@penguinpop Congratulations! What school did you apply to?
I think CAS is the hardest after Stern. Unless it’s Tisch? I feel like Gallatin and Steinhardt are about equal idk
@tresther It is very likely that they do not give you admission to CAS if you applied to Stern. I did so last year as a high school senior the dean told me that if a student applied for Stern, they assume you are really talented and thus don’t want to be in CAS, which I take connotation as “Our CAS really sucks!”
@dreamingofnyu19, but the common app forms say that Steinhart is an extremely competitive school and don’t recommend applicants apply it as an alternate program. I applied for CAS, but chose Gallatin and Steinhart as alternate programs. Hope they still consider me for alternate programs.
But they do set an alternate option for us…I think CAS is easier than Stern
@162007392 @dreamingofnyu no I don’t know them personally but on the Vanderbilt transfer thread he said he got into stern yesterday
I put Gallatin as a second option but I feel like even though the schools are ranked by applicants, on some level, they’re all hard to get into in their own ways–bc NYU on the whole is a pretty good university
I just called them, they have all my transcripts from high school, but still hasn’t check off my final high school transcript section yet… hm… maybe they already rejected me as an entering junior, since my high school grades are crap.
I am so anxious! I applied to the film and television program in Tisch. My gpa is a 3.74 for my first two semesters, and I received a 1900 on my SAT. I believe my portfolio is strong, but I’m worried that my lack of ec’s is going to kill me. How do you guys think my chances are?
@cerniglie Your GPA is pretty good and SAT is not bad either! ECs are important but the courses which you have taken in your first two semesters can also make a huge difference!
@cerniglie did u do a film or short story or photos?
I made a screenplay, would you like to read it? I’d love some honest feedback if you are interested.
Sure, I could do that if you want EDIT: baumbach2222@gmail.com
Okay, thank you! That eases my nerves a little bit. I took a bunch of creative writing classes so hopefully that helps!
