@terr24lr I’m pretty sure they won’t consider you for CAS if you get rejected by Stern
@terr24lr @emorylove97 NYU states on one of their pages that students applying to Stern will not be considered for a second choice option unless it is one of the other business fields (Real Estate, Hotel, etc.). I did some research because I am Stern and also put CAS. I also asked on my campus visit, and they said that they don’t even look at your second choice unless you specifically showed interest in that school/program in your application.
@SwellyBelly @rubberducky123 @terr24lr That’s not good for me because I’m on the same boat… I applied to Stern and put down CAS as my second choice because I wouldn’t mind Economics as my major. I’m most likely going to get rejected by Stern, and I didn’t really talk about economics or CAS in my essay, so would I just not have a chance at both? 
for any tisch film applicants: have any of you had your portfolios checked off on albert? i applied march 17th and mine was just checked off today! everything else has been checked off for a couple weeks so hopefully this means they’re starting to look at my application lol
@SwellyBelly wtf!!! Well Tandon does have business related majors (I forget the specific names) so my intentions of putting down Tandon were legit. My essay was strictly business-finance related. Am I completely screwed? Basically to summarize, when reading my application it is very clear that I have interest in business
@lillyJ678564 I don’t actually know, I’m sorry! Unfortunately I’ve been told by many people that it’s kind of random year to year. Like one year they may need 20 bio majors and another they may only want 5. I would imagine though that some might be harder than others to get into based on demand. But like I know lots of people are psych majors there so I just made sure i showed interest, took some classes in that field, and expressed that I had future plans that could like only be fulfilled at NYU haha.
@dino12487 Nope! You are assigned a counselor based on the school you applied to, not by region! I am not sure if they come together at the end for the final decision but from what I can tell, its pretty separate between the schools and the counselors throughout.
@annadragon I applied tisch photo but I believe mine has been checked off recently as well but still haven’t heard anything back yet!
@terr24lr Tandon is actually the school of engineering. They are more specifically looking for the School of Professionals Studies as the only valid backup. @cjeong98 unless you’re accepted to Stern, yeah you’re pretty much screwed. Otherwise kids that actually want CAS would have to compete with Stern rejects that might not have actually been interested. They gotta keep decision acceptance rates high.

@SwellyBelly I specified in my essays that I am also interested in Tandon School of Engineering for their Business and Technology Program. I know for a fact that they will unlikely consider you for CAS Econ if that is your second choice (or at least you have a significantly lower chance).

@emorylove97 Correct. I mentioned that in a later comment. CAS, no chance (I just wasn’t interested in any other program). And yes, business technology is one of the other ones they consider if you show significant interest. Best of luck!

Fuck I only focused on stern and I guess I made the stupid assumption that when I put Tandon as a second choice they would know I mean on the business tracks available at Tandon. Wonderful 
@terr24lr Me too! I put down CAS as my second choice and I didn’t know that we were supposed to mention it in the essay. I have so much regret right now…
@cjeong98 I did my research and I never came across such page that stated to mention alternate programs in your essay. Do you really think we are screwed though? I mean, I focused a lot on finance in my essay (and I’m sure you heavily focused on business in yours too). It would take an idiot to not realize we are business majors. I wonder how significant not mentioning Tandon (or CAS) in our essays would affect us if they even stated that Tandon has business tracks available. Idk
@terr24lr before i sent in my application, I never saw a page stating that you have to mention other programs in your essay if you want to be considered, but not too long ago I saw an article on the NYU Admissions Blog saying that applicants should write about their alternatives if they want to be considered. I concentrated on Business and what Stern could do for my future, so I’m scared that I’m gonna be rejected from CAS too. Honestly, I’m just hoping for the best…
