from what I researched the overall acceptance rate is 25-28% from around 5-6K applicants (which is about the same amount of people that apply w/ early decision) but I didn’t know they had it by schools too, do you mind telling me where you got that info? @rik123
@dino12487 If you go to https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-to-apply/transfer-applicants/additional-program-requirements.html it will say that CAS takes " 10 -30 percent" for transfers. Im not sure about the percentages of the other schools, but you should get a general idea by reading the descriptions for each of the schools on that website
So was I. I honestly think that they require it for very specific cases that they would not want to mention – and just decided to require it from everyone. If they happen to need it from you specifically, they would probably inform you, or worse, decline your application. That’s just what I think. I’m worried about it too, and I’m not going to submit it. @thecitystars
Anyone applying to Stern for fall transfer?
I feel like the chances would be higher for a spring transfer since we’re not competing with high school students to get in x _x
@TransferKid97 I am stern fall transfer but I put tandon as a second option because I highly doubt anyone external is getting into stern
On Albert it says it takes up to 4 weeks from when you submitted your app for admissions to receive and check off the requirements on albert. Is it a good idea to simply send my materials again or will that annoy them? Should I just wait it out because it is really early even though I sent my materials nearly a month ago?
And just to be clear they want SAT/ACT scores, high school transcript, college transcript, and the college report?
I am still unclear if they want the midterm report…anyone?
Not sure if midterm report is required, but I sent mine in anyways. I emailed them and received confirmation that it got added to my application
If they wanted the Midterm report, admissions would contact you via email. They usually ask for Midterm report if they feel they need more information on an applicant. SAT/ACT scores are only necessary for applicants with less than one year of college. High school transcripts, college transcripts and the college report are all required for transfer applicants. In my case, I applied specifically to stern and this is the documents they required from me.
@terr24lr would you mind posting your stats?
Im from a private university at NYC
3.75 GPA
Some ECC’s pertaining to my major Finance
And wrote a sincere essay expressing my passion for this career path
I just got off the phone with the NYU undergrad admissions and said:
• all three is required - college report, midterm report, and the secondary school final report
• there’s no limit in providing the documents after the deadline, just as soon as possible
So lol idk anymore
better safe than sorry tho. on top of that, your application might not be reviewed if these materials are missing.
Well the person on the phone said that NYU will email me if I’m missing anything. I’m sending in the college report since that is fo sho required because it’s stated in the NYU transfer admissions website but I don’t think I’ll send in the mid-term or the secondary school final report. I’ve read in multiple threads from previous transfers in college confidential that this situation happened in the past and more often they were not required.
If they email me I’d probably send in the other two documents the day after.
Hey guys! So i have not yet received my midterm grades yet because we have exams in the next two weeks. Should I call the admissions office and let them know of that? They haven’t contacted me yet to send in my midterm report.
Just called NYU and I told them that my high school does not participate in the completion of the secondary school final report…but my transcript was submitted. NYU said that is fine, as long as the high school transcript is submitted
Hi,
So I applied to NYU Tandon because there was a lot of family pressure for me to go into a stem related field and I knew it would be easier for me in the long run (possibly) to find a good, high paying job with a degree in science or engineering.
However, after being here for even one semester, I hated it and had a terrible academic experience. I didn’t enjoy my courses, nor did I do well in them and I wanted to transfer into CAS or Gallatin super badly.
Upon speaking to advisors though, I was told I wouldn’t be able to transfer so I should just suck it up and try harder. So I stuck it out for another year to try to boost my terrible GPA.
It didn’t help much and I’m currently at a 2.5… as a sophomore in my spring semester, applying for a fall 2017 transfer as a junior.
After talking with some friends who transferred into Gallatin though it seemed like it would be the perfect fit for me since all my credits from tandon (save for like a few courses due to the max transfer credit limit) can transfer over and go toward my degree of individualized study.
I wrote a very strong personal statement, spoke to two advisors, and a professor at Gallatin to plan things out and ask for guidance, and included their names in my personal statement as well. They all told me they thought I had a strong chance of being accepted because all my good grades were in my humanitarian and non stem courses, and it was evident that Tandon wasnt for me. I also took a couple CAS classes this semester.
I spoke about my current and previous internships and my background in my statement and gave them my full story of how its taken me two years to admit to myself and my family that I’m not happy at tandon or happy studying STEM.
Do I have a likely chance of being admitted as an internal transfer to Gallatin?
TLDR: I hate it at tandon, and wrote a really strong personal statement to transfer into Gallatin; what are my chances?
and when do we find out whether or not we’ve been accepted?!
@NYUhopeful_1198 my professors haven’t even put in any grades so the person on the phone said that they should make an estimate on the report
@lillyJ678564 yes Parchment is legit lol
@meep1414 I think you’re fine? Sorry I’m an external transfer (and I think a lot of people are in this thread) so I can’t give you a good guesstimate
