I get a heart attack every time I get an email on my phone
Same I’m having heart palpitations. This thread is like the calm before the storm. Everyone was rawled up asking questions a few days ago and now we’re all just waiting. It’s time for the decisions now, I feel like there’s going to be a huge wave tomorrow.
Are all the people in here that are expecting decisions in the coming days applying internally, or is there some reason to believe that external applicants could actually get their decisions this month?
I’ve finally received confirmation that my application is complete, which is odd considering I submitted everything a while ago. I’m much more interested to hear back from Cornell but I will keep you guys updated on if I receive acceptance to Steinhardt, and of course for those of you that are possible prospective applied psychology majors we should keep in touch!
@Malcontent There are many individuals who have received acceptances as external transfers
@zachsambition I see! Good to know I don’t need to wait until May to start obsessively refreshing Albert.
@zachsambition did you get an email or something? that’s odd lol. i’ve had all my checklist materials and to do list cleared for months but never got “confirmation”
@msport I received an email last week or the week before that NYU hadn’t received my college report which was strange because our Dean of Students told me herself that she had sent it out 2 months ago. I had time today so I called admissions and they said they had it and my application was complete. I’m not sure what to think about it, but I’m not giving it much thought because at this point I’m actively considering other universities. The “confirmation” was verbal over the phone. The individual I had spoken to implied that the email was possibly a mistake and that they had heard the same thing happened to other students
@transferkidnyu before I got their email only my standardized test box was checked. But I double check after I got their email, my college transcript was checked as well. I asked my counselor to resent it today, and I will check again tomorrow. But if it is checked I will let you know too!
@zachsambition Exactly! My high school transcript is definitely sent out at the beginning of Feb, and yet they are telling me that they are missing it. The only thing is that I called, and they told me it probably went missing because I submitted that way too early than my actual commonapp application.
is it worth calling nyu to see if they can check off my high school and college transcript? i sent them both like two weeks before i turned in my application.
@pastaluvr23 definitely call them to make sure! It is possible that they got ur materials but haven’t put it into the system yet.
Ya I mean I sent in my materials a while a go and when nothing was marked off, I called and the guy said that everything was there and my application was complete, and sometimes they just don’t update it on your portal
ok so that doesn’t mean anything it just means they have all your stuff lol
@pastaluvr23 I would put a call into it, takes only a few minutes and then you can rest easier afterwards, especially if NYU is your first choice and you’re suffering from severe anxiety and acute stress like some other applicants on here
Thanks, that’d be awesome! I also only have my high school transcript unchecked now!
Is it just me or does every person on CC have a 4.0 GPA and 36 ACT and they all helped fight Ebola blindfolded and with one hand behind their backs?
@transferkidnyu ya also when I called NYU earlier they told me if you resent your materials to them it takes about a week to go into their system
@NathaliaNhem Honestly if I have those stats and ECs I would have the guts to apply to all Ivy leagues lol
If that’s the case with their stats then they should get into every school lmao
See, here’s the thing: if you look at the stats of applicants to every university they have all gone up within the last decade and acceptance rates have all (mostly) gone down. With so many people applying for positions it becomes hypercompetitive.
NYU’s acceptance rate was 37% back in 2007, now it’s down to 19%. Cornell is following a similar trend and will be down to half their acceptance rate from 2007, and although that sounds crazy I have seen some acceptance rates cut in a third.
EDIT: I want to repeat what I stated in a previous comment though. I personally believe there are many other more important dimensions to an application than GPA. High ranking colleges don’t want you for your GPA, they want you for your qualities, maintaining a sufficient GPA displays some ideal qualities, that’s all it is.
I don’t know how you guys feel about it, but a 4.0 doesn’t impress me. If you show me a person who has a 3.5 and they really had to struggle to get that, and challenged themselves consistently while coping with adversity, and at the end of it they became a stronger and more grounded person — that person has my respect.
And again that depends on their major too. I’ve had students in some of my classes with a 4.0 and they wouldn’t last a week in Organic Chemistry II
