NYU Financial Aid

Hi I’m a student that is interested in NYU. I currently have 4.0 gpa and was wondering how much aid they would reward me with due to the focus and effort I’ve had at school?
Thanks

What are your test scores? FAFSA EFC? Did you try the NPC?

@Madison85 As I’m only a sophmore I haven’t taken SAT or filled out FAFSA yet.

Based on your minimum academic record, lack of test scores and zero information on family finances, your question cannot be answered with even a wild guess. When you have more information, the first thing to do is use the Net Price Calculator available on every school’s website.

I’ll be bold. If you are hoping for a lot of financial aid, please broaden your college search beyond NYU.

You have a couple of years to find schools that will be far less costly, with far better need based and merit aid.

NYU gives lousy aid. NYU’s merit awards are spotty and can’t be counted on.

Unless your parents will pay $70k+ per year for NYU, don’t get your hopes up.

A gazillion applicants have a 4.0. Doesn’t warrant merit

And since you are a sophomore in HS, you do have some time to get the finances figured out with your family.

You also have time to look at college costs, and where you might or might not get merit aid based on your GPA and standardized test scores.

Good to be starting to think of this now. But as @BelknapPoint pointed out, you haven’t taken the SAT or ACT yet, and you really only have one year of HS grade.

Right now, your concentration should be on prepping for the PSAT which you will take at the start of your junior year of high school. Continue to take a challenging course load and get excellent grades. Then take the SAT and/or ACT near the end of your Junior year in HS.

Excellent grades and excellent SAT or ACT scores will position you to get better acceptances, and merit aid.

But I will ask…why NYU?

ETA…another thread says you are also interested in Tufts…and another “top colleges” .

Will you be eligible for need based aid? Tufts doesn’t give merit aid, and neither do many other “top colleges”.
