you can room with anyone from any of the schools

You can call the NYU admissions office and ask for the Gallatin liasion on the staff. There is an admissions officer assigned to work on the Gallatin applications.

My son also is a Gallatin freshman, and we’ve been very impressed by the program since learning about it almost accidently during the college application process. Be aware that there are some Tisch (and possible Stern) courses that are supposedly limited to students of those schools. But one of the first things that Gallatin students tell you is that they know/learn how to get into courses they want and, with their advisors’ help, are successful at doing it.

What are Gallatin classes? Are they mostly classes with the other schools, as in, if I had to take intro Bio in order to get to higher bio classes, I’d still be in a room with a lot of students regardless if I’m in Gallatin? Does Gallatin have ANY core? What is the CAS core?

A lot of your questions could be answered by simply looking on the NYU website. You would have to take the intro courses to certain classes if its required in order to take higher level classes. For Gallatin 32 of your credits (8 classes) must be taken in Gallatin, the others can be taken across the board. Gallatin has a freshman program as well as a liberal arts requirement which can be fufilled by taking classes in the other schools.

CAS core requirement is known as the Morse Academic Plan (MAP)

This is awesome

Is there any way to take course at both tisch and steinhardt? I was to study dance and nutrition but not sure how many dance classes I would be able to take. What is the dance portion like if I go to Gallatin?

I’m looking into transferring to Gallatin after my sophomore year. I’m finishing up my first semester of school with a 3.9 gpa at a top 50 university. My test scores and grades from high school, however, were just average. Do I stand a chance at Gallatin? I’m interested in Film Semiotics, Media/Culture, Economics, and Psychology. I somehow want to make a curriculum out of these lol.

@bluedancer You don’t have to go to Gallatin to take classes in both Steinhardt and Tisch. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you plan to put the two together into one super major with a purpose. NYU allows you to do cross-school coursing, which means you can have two separate areas of study in two different schools.

not even applying to NYU now:P too much tuition

“if they accept you, they notify you immediately of your acceptance”

do they still do this?

Hi all, is tuition any different (less I’m hoping) at gallation than NYU?

i did the exact same thing. It was a pain to make it short. Did you get in?

@altaJHMC I know you’re not active on this forum anymore, but I just wanted to say you for taking the time to write all of this out. I found out about Gallatin through your post, and it is now my dream school.
I need help. Unfortunately, I have very low stats, but very awesome essays and ECs and I have applied to Gallatin as EDII. I got very upset because if there are only that low amount of available spots, I may be rejected immediately. Is there anyone here with whom I could talk about it? I would be very thankful for some words of wisdom…
Do you still reply to posts here? I definitely have something I wanna ask!
I aim for a 32+ ACT and have a gpa of like 3.4, do I stand a shot with gallatin ED I?
