NYU Greek life

How is NYU Greek life after the recent expansion? I heard it went from 2% to 10% of the student population in 2010 after the arrival of ZTA and KKG, and I was wondering how that changed things, specifically in sororities.

My neighbor who goes to NYU said it used to be relaxed but still a fun source of school spirit without being too much of a time commitment, but I feel like that can't still be true now that it's larger. In other words, surely it must be more difficult to get into any sorority now that more girls are rushing. My neighbor said over 800 girls rushed this year but only 300 got in - is this true? I really want to join a sorority but I don't know how different it is at NYU.

Thanks!

Many girls rush so the acceptance rate is pretty low compared to other universities. From what I’ve heard, many other colleges have almost 90% acceptance rate in that if you want to get into a sorority, you will, even if it’s not the one you want. At NYU, that may not be the case. However, Greek life is rapidly expanding and the average member class is way bigger now so you should definitely still go for it, you never know until you try!

@ashleykingsley: I don’t think I could phrase it any better than nyujunior. If you have more questions about NYU Greek life, let me know! I’m a junior in the fraternity Delta Phi.
