CONGRATS TO EVERYONE! seems like its mostly states up north getting notified as of now.. Im in Florida so hopefully mine comes today!{ or tomorrow im not picky;)} Congrats again!

My D just received her invitation last night- she was crying- and she just got a letter from her teacher that she wrote in 4th grade- it said- I want to go to NYU- and now she is going BABY! How sweet is that!

^^^ That is so great!! Ya know, just moments ago, when I was replying to someone else about their invitation in an email, it brought me back to this moment four years ago, when my D got the invitation and was crying with joy (she was in the hospital actually and nurses ran in thinking something was wrong) and it was a dream she had for years and it was realized and then we hoped she could recover and fulfill that dream by fall and she did and she is about to graduate now and her showcase is about exactly four years after receiving this invitation!

Enjoy this moment everyone!

That is awesome Sooz- I read about the car accident your daughter was in- and also how young she is- Best of luck in the showcase- what a proud mama you must be!
My D is over the moon- walking on air. Yesterday morning (because of you basically) I found out about the "invitation"- up until that point I thought we had to wait until April 1 - and when I came home - it was sitting in the mailbox. She woke up this morning and said "Did I dream it Mom?" We are just hoping we can swing the financials- we will have to! NYU was her first choice- because of the academics and double major option. Do you recommend going to the Saturday in the Square? Also is everyone invited that is accepted- in other words is it a zoo with people?
Thanks and thanks for being so visible and informative about NYU- Tisch! Good luck to everyone else!

I'm very happy for your daughter! And of course, as a parent, what could be better than to see your child happy?

Not every applicant who is accepted will receive the invitation to Saturday in the Square (which is, by the way, just for TISCH accepted students, not all the other NYU school accepted students which have separate admitted events on other dates so it is not a zoo). I believe that Tisch sends the invites to selected accepted students to attract them to attend, but they are still deciding on others.

You ask whether to attend or not. I have no clue where you live and the expense involved in getting there. I also have no idea if your D has done a good visit before (though perhaps she auditioned on campus?). So, part of my answer would have to do with how much she has already visited Tisch. If she has before and you don't want to go to the expense of returning, she doesn't HAVE to go. If a student were deciding among their acceptances, an accepted student event is good to to go at each of the narrowed down schools to help the student decide (my older child returned to a few of her accepted schools in April of her senior year to help her pick which one to attend and it helped a lot). But your D seems to know she WILL attend NYU as it was her first choice. My D who goes to Tisch had it as a first choice as well and so when the acceptance arrived, even though she had other BFA in MT acceptances, she never discussed which one to attend as she KNEW she would go to Tisch. So, it sounds like your D is in that situation, yes? And therefore, she doesn't NEED to attend Sat. in the Square.....but........

The way we saw it....even though our child knew she would definitely attend, and had visited twice before.....going to Sat. in the Square was an exciting thing to do to look ahead to going to Tisch and just being there for the event. In that regard, I do recommend it. Part of it is informative and part is just plain exciting! For my D, it even had greater significance, because she was in a hospital bed for 20 days and her first day out of it was the day we traveled to Tisch (she had to use both crutches and a wheel chair there!). So, it was like looking ahead to a better life in more ways than one!

There is a presentation for all of Tisch that is worthwhile, as well as smaller presentations for each Tisch deparment for the students. There is a chance to mingle with reps from Tisch as well as current students who can ask questions. There is a chance to meet other students who might be attending in the fall. And then there is the run to the bookstore with everyone else to get some stuff with the NYU and/or Tisch logo....it's official! :D Have fun!

I called tisch admissions and asked if everyone who was accepted to Tisch was invited to the Saturday in the Square and I was told they were..? im a little confused.. If you don't get one she said you are not accepted...

Does anyone know the latest these invitations will arrive..? im in florida waiting... thanks

I have no information but to say that I am assuming that the invitations to Saturday in the Square are mailed all at once but the USMail system can vary a lot and since many got them yesterday, it could mean that others get them today or tomorrow depending on their mail delivery. This is not any hard information but an inference only.

krisjan- I'm in FL, too, and waiting :( Hopefully we will get a letter!

soozievt- do you know if transfers are invited to this as well? Because at my info session before my audition they were saying it's possible for transfers not to know till MAY. Have you heard this before or do you think I misunderstood? Maybe he was saying studio assignment? It just seems like May would be really long especially since it's AFTER the Nat'l deadline thing?

I think that transfers are notified AFTER the freshmen are notified, and May sounds like right.

Thanks, NMR!
