Okay, so after saying in 380 words “Why NYU” I accidentally put “I am doubtful NYU is the place to start” when it was supposed to say “undoubtful”!!! Will this affect me harshly?
Yup! Probably not a good thing. But who knows, stranger things have happened. Read this thread for a good laugh:
So you have two choices. 1) let it go and hope they don’t notice it. Or 2) risk bringing attention to it by calling them and admitting you noticed a typo and find out if you are permitted to send a revision.
also, “undoubtful” is not a word
No kidding - would be better to say, “I am confident NYU is the place to start…”
I think admissions officer could overlook such a mistake/error. If you had mentioned another college name in the NYU essay, that’s a different story. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s just a wrong word choice. You wrote Why NYU essay…that says a lot. I usually don’t recommend sending an email about an error in essay. But, in this case it may actually make sense to send a quick email to regional admissions rep…letting him/her know what you meant to say.
