NYU or Columbia

"In my opinion, that is a closed-minded way of looking at your future education, whether you're a meal or female."

Then you choose colleges on academics alone? Theres nothing wrong with beautiful scenery. ;)

well blueangel14, maybe you are 14 years old and need a little maturing to do.

nice girls would be a bonus. i dont' wanna end up in a school where all teh girls smell and have greasy hair. i think looking at every aspect of your futre is being open minded. I am gonna decide my futre based on many factors which i will be most happy with.

Please grow up and stop making uneducated comments.

That's exactly the kind of shallow comment I would expect! Of course I put in other factors, like location, social scene, where the students are from, oppurtunities. But I would NEVER ask about the good-looking guys to help me choose a college. If that's even in your consideration about what school to pick why don't u just apply to Miami or California? I'm hoping the girls at Columbia especially would be more interested in you for your personality than your looks. Although I'm guessing you're 18 and just wanna get laid so fair enough! Good luck!

lol, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!

wut's wrong with getting laid? wut's wrong with being smart and hot? are you implying smart girls arn't hot?

Wow, that was kinda rude, chill out! Look, I'm expressing my opinion, I'm not gonna get into fight. But I'm surprised that people choose schools based on that factor, I've never met anyone to be like that. I would want you to be happy wherever you are, obviously, but I wouldn't want you to treat girls or guys like sex objects. I'm sure everyone would like nice girls and guys to look at but what if you take a tour and you only happen to see the "unattractive" girls/guys? Are you suddenly not gonna apply there even if everything else is great?

And by the way, I'm 21, do NOT have greasy hair or smell! I'm making a social point that I hope mature people will appreciate. I wouldn't even want a girl friend of mine to choose a school because "there were so many hot guys there." Yes, we can all have fun with good-looking people but at the end of the day, I'm paying $40,000 a year for my education. Maybe it's a cultural thing, I don't know.

Good luck whever you go though, I'm sure you will find happiness.

Haha, I don't think I ever said smart girls aren't hot! I just hope that you'd use a girl for her looks then not care about her intelligence. I mean, let's say you're actually an attrative person and a girl you REALLY liked slept with you then never even spoke to you again. Wouldn't you be upset?

Ok, I wanna make one thing straight. I am NOT a feminist in any way. I am talking on behalf of guys and girls. I've seen enough girls use guys to know it's not a guy thing or something a "man's gotta do". Guys get burnt by shallow girls too. C'est la vie!

"But I'm surprised that people choose schools based on that factor, I've never met anyone to be like that."

You must be a huge idealist. The reality is that people do choose schools based on this, whether they tell you or not is a different story. Don't get me wrong, it's not the only factor when picking a college (that would be sad), but quality of guys/girls is one of the factors, and this cannot be denied. Why do you think so many people are turned off by engineering schools, and single sex schools?

Well, I don't think I'm an idealist, I just wish people were more mature/respectful. Those people that go to those single-sex/engineering schools (e.g. Smith/MIT I guess) probably get better jobs/pay then get judged by prospective partners on how much money they have. So I guess it happens in some way wherever you end up.

As a side note, I go to Lehigh known for its engineering (also it's partying actually) and there are a lot of good looking people here (according to some) so I guess people shouldn't judge a school on the stereotypes in their head.

"I mean, let's say you're actually an attrative person and a girl you REALLY liked slept with you then never even spoke to you again. Wouldn't you be upset?"

Actually no, not really. You clearly don't understand the male psyche.

And attractiveness of the student body is usually only a distinction made after one is admitted. It's an aspect of college life, like food.

I don't understand YOUR male psyche! Trust me, I have grown up around guys, my best friends have usually always been guys (and no, NOT gay) and I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years. I know what you're saying though, some people do just wanna sleep with people, guys and girls included; it's NOT just the male psyche. But when you get your heart broken, if it ever happens, don't be too surprised.

Ooh, PLEASE choose a school with more than 1 food option! Some schools suck for that!! But if you're applying to a school in NYC (are you?) then you have nothing to worry about that. I'm pretty sure you'll be dealing with food more than girls, so it's important in some way! :)

Princeton has great food. ;)

You go to Princeton?

I will be. I'm an '09er.

You'll be very happy then, as girls will judge you for going to an Ivy and that should help you get laid! ;)

Yay!!!!!!!!!

nyu is safe, my brother went there. however columbia is a better school. also, there are girls everywhere at both campuses. nyu has a girl majority and nyu's campus is basically washington square park since the university owns all the buildings around it.

i debated heavily b/t northwestern and nyu stern
and then later wharton and columbia
the debate was business vs. liberal arts education for both "rounds"

if i were you, i would go to columbia. get that broad liberal arts background. it will serve you well in whatever walk of life you decide to go into. However, if you're money chasing and want to go into ibanking for the money, go to stern. that's definitely preprofessional.

columbia's economics major is still liberal arts, i hope you realize that.

Thank you for all your inputs.

I have decided and sent in my deposit, WOOHOO columbia!

Roar lions Roar~~~ :)

traitor!!!!!!! j/k

YAY! =)

dude, did you get the "columbia university: a celebration" dvd??
It has the columbia song on it.. as a karaoke!! lolol it's great
"roar lion roar..." ::dot jumps on words::
