I was accepted to both as a biology major. But, I'm thinking about switching to psych or business major with pre-med. I received a 20k scholarship to NYU, which makes it worthy of consideration and I love the environment. In other words, my heart is at NYU but my mind is at UCLA where the prestige is.

There’s PLENTLY of prestige at NYU… Lol.

not as much as ucla. sighh.

Are you in-state for UCLA?

Have you experienced the atmosphere at UCLA?

And sure, UCLA has a BIT more prestige than NYU, but not much more. Plus, NYU is more of a dream school than LA is.

yup, in-state.

well tuition at nyu will be like 30k. If you really want to go and your parents are finacially stable and don’t mind paying, I would say sure go to NYU. But how much is in-state tuition for you? like 4-5k? Plus the two atmospheres are really different so I don’t know…where would you feel more comfortable?

I detest the UCLA atmosphere… everyone running around with their noses in their books, ignoring everyone in their path. It’s too cold (emotionally not weather-wise, obviously) for me. But if you can see yourself there, more power to you.

With budget cuts I would take a private school in a minute. UCLA is now near $30k a year and it will be hard to get out in four. My son got accepted to UCLA, Cal, UCSD and he is 90% sure he’s going to NYU and I’m willing to pay more to make sure he doesn’t get caught up in the budget crisis. My other son is at Cal and I know first hand how tough it is getting. Go to NYU.
