Darn! Well I really can’t complain about what I got, and it’ll be less stress not being honors. Maybe I can fit in a job since I won’t study as much. I’ll figure something out!

Thanks for informing us Imhilion!

Thanks for informing us Imhilion!

I’ll have to look at my application again then, haha, I barely read past “you have been accepted”

Thanks, Imhilion

I got an acceptance letter and a $18k promise scholarship but Poly still seems too expensive. I filled out the FAFSA/TAP but I doubt I’m going to get much money from them.

I was speaking to one of the people that work in my school’s IT department and he said going to a CUNY and dual-majoring in Comp Sci/Electrical E. would be cheaper and better (according to him, the professors are better) than going to Poly for Computer enginering.

On the other side, though, poly gives very generous financial aid and a ton of opportunities to get tuition money. Average debt for poly graduates about 30k which, compared to average poly grad starting salary, is not a big deal. Its easier to get a much higher paying job graduating from poly than from a cuny school, giving you more money in the long run

When do we find out about our financial aid package? Do we need to make the deposit first?

Got my acceptance in the mail today! :)

Annnd I’m a girl.

rejected today.

Allisonesque, what’s your major?
Sorry to hear that, s64693!

for the guys that are getting these huge scholarships…

What are your stats?

@llaupy Chemical and biomedical engineering

I also got the $20,000/yr Promise along with $1,000/yr for the women’s scholarship (I forget the name of it exactly).
I have a 3.9 UW GPA, a 33 ACT, 800 Math SAT II, 800 Chemistry SAT II, and a small handful of extracurriculars.

@collegedude, i got a 14k/yr promise scholarship along with the 1k/yr women’s scholarship. My GPA was a 3.7 UW, mediocre SATs, better ACT subscores (all 29+ except for my science score which was a 24 because at that point, I literally closed the book and filled in bubbles from start to finish. Kudos for guessing skills, I guess). I think I got my scholarship due to my extracurriculars (internationally renowned in the martial arts community, concert pianist, blah blah)

My daughter was accepted with a scholarship that was more than twice what she received anywhere else. WPI is her first choice, but she is seriously considering Poly.

I haven’t received a decision yet, but when I called Poly they said a decision was already made on the 15th.
I’m so scared… I really need that scholarship!

collegedude, did you do an interview? if not i strongly recommend it (they offer phone interviews) because if you do well, it’ll def help your chances for getting a scholarship!

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail, but unfortunately, I only got a $6K promise scholarship. This is soooo little compared to everyone else…
I guess its too late to have an interview now.

@llaupu, are you seriously considering going to Poly?

@collegedude - yeah, i’ll most likely be going

No scholarship amount was included in my acceptance packet. Contacted Admissions office and they said the financial aid would be completed after 2 weeks of acceptance letters. Hope I get some financial assistance…I am so excited… I LOVE NY…OH YEAH, IM A GIRL. LETS HERE IT FOR THE LADIES

hahah yeah, lajee!

lajee,

My hubby just related something he read to me. In around 20 years, there will be many more bachelors than ladies world-wide. Because they have devalued females in many countries, e.g., Asian countries like China, India, and Japan, in the not too distant future, there will not be enough women to go around for every male who wants one!

hey i got a 14k promise scholarship and 1k women’s scholarship with a 3.7GPA and 2010 SAT and a buch of ECs…oh and i’m a girl lol
