NYU-Poly to NYU-CAS Transfer

Hello everyone! I will be attending NYU-Poly next year with the hopes of eventually transferring to NYU-CAS or NYU-Stern to pursue a degree in economics or finance. With NYU-Poly being completely consolidated by January 1st, 2014, seemingly becoming integrated as an other school of NYU (Tisch, Stern, CAS, Gallatin, etc.), I figure that as an internal transfer the process would be smooth. After tirelessly searching through forums on CC, I've come to the conclusion that NYU loves transfers with quantitive backgrounds. Right now I'm listed as a BTM (Business and Technology Management) major at NYU-Poly. However, I am considering going in as a Math major to have that strong quantitive background and a more competitive transfer applicant. Does anyone have experience transferring into NYU, specifically these schools/majors? What would you recommend I major in? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read/help.

According from what people say, transfer to NYU stern might be the hardest one but may be easier than someone who who is not an NYU student. The reason why it’s hard to transfer to Stern is because not many people transfer out of that school and therefore leaving few seats available for people who do want to transfer to Stern. You shouldn’t have a problem transferring to CAS. You can try other alternatives like majoring in Business and Technology Management and minor in Business Studies at NYU stern. You can totally cross school minor. I wouldn’t suggest enrolling to NYU where it’s easier to internal transfer but because you want to major in Business and Tech management at Poly. Students at Poly complain about how intense the workload is because of the “bootcamp” environment for engineers. You would need to get through Poly first before doing any transfer to another NYU school.

It’s actually HARDER to transfer internally into stern than it is externally.

To my knowledge, internal transfers to CAS to compete with the external transfer students for admission.
