NYU Prospective Students invitations

Hi,

I'm new here but I've been reading the boards, wondering if anyone knew anything about this...

NYU is supposedly having a prospective students week this week or next week, and admissions decisions will go out after that. At least that's what a few people on thegradcafe.com said.

Do you think that if you weren't invited to the prospective students week (I wasn't), that that means you won't get accepted?

I'm applying for a history PhD. Last year I applied to NYU for the joint MA/MJ program in Journalism and Latin American/Caribbean studies. I got in, I was waitlisted for a fellowship from the Latin American studies department and I was offered some funding from the journalism department (even though students applying to the joint journalism programs aren't usually considered for j-school funding).

I decided not to go to journalism school because I realized I'd rather be doing history. Took a year to apply for History PhDs and get my language requirements up to snuff. But now I'm all panicky because no one at NYU contacted me about attending the Prospective Students week. Granted, they didn't ask me to attend when I applied (and was accepted) last year, either, so maybe I'm overreacting.

strangelight, I don’t think it means anything. I got into NYU and didn’t even get an invitation

thank you for ending my momentary panic. :)

what program did you apply to?
