that happened to Vassar this year! they sent it to like 280 people accidentally, like ED kids or something. Yeah but now that they have made that mistake it obviously wont happen again

The Fin Aid changes mean nothing. I did more research and found that fin aid requested docs of students 3 days before results were emailed to applicants that were rejected. So having those links is nothing more than computer uploads “getting ready”. CMac has a reliable source that confirms this.
This topic is causing more stress than it needs to. Everyone will know in the next week.
Good luck!

Ben19549 is absolutely right… Have you noticed how NO ONE has reported having the financial aid change for about a week? This is because NYU stopped updating Albert about a week ago, due to finishing reviewing all the applications. They are now constructing the Class of 2016 as we speak. They do not have the time to update Albert anymore.

The financial aid section should and would change regardless if you applied for financial aid or not. All colleges make you pay through loans so therefore it would be under your financial aid tab. The phrase “financial aid” doesn’t actually mean the money their handing you, rather an overview of your cost of attending. My friend who go in ED didn’t apply for financial aid either but her Albert updated to what many of us see now before her acceptance.

True lightheskys, but my point is that this could change at anytime for anyone. In requesting docs from rejected students, it shows that fin aid works independently - those updates don’t give us a clue as to who is “in” and who is not at this point.

Maybe after all of this is done, we can come to some other conclusion, but right now we have no reliable proof - and a response from admissions (ie: CMac) that there is no connection. I think all the speculation is fun especially for those that have the changes but I can see that it is causing some stress for those that don’t - really not what I wanted to happen when I first asked the question and like I said, after more research - I don’t think there is a correlation.

NYU is a very large university that has a “system” in place that works for them. College Confidential is a great source for what’s going on with a particular school, but should’t be a place where you come to get inaccurate information to create fear of rejection. This is hard enough as it is - hoping for the best for all.

This thread has devolved into worthlessness…

Not really TrumpetDad… Many people are apprehensive about this financial aid change thing… Many of us are trying to find the answer to this question, and after much consideration, I believe we’ve found the answer! If that’s not helpful, I don’t know what is…

It may be worthless to you because you are not directly affected by it, but this decision will effect the next 4 years of our life. This thread has kept me sane.

I was just on Albert, and I noticed that my financial aid tab now has another sub-tab labeled, “Accept/Decline Financial Aid” … is this a clue?

ALSO! The April 1st after 5pm statement has been there since before ED applicants received their decisions, so I’m guessing that the plans have changed

I hate to be a killjoy ProcrastinArtist, but that tab has been there for about a month… Sorry!

seriously hoping for a decision tomorrow since last year got out on the 25th! april 1st just seems so far since a lot of my schools are out earlier

We can only dream for tomorrow! But atleast we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, decisions will be out this week!

yeah, I’d be surprised if they released the decisions after the Ivies do (the 29th), I think the April 1st date is leftover from last year, so I expect that we’ll hear back from them sometime during the coming week. good luck, folks.

Haha I was going to wait until later to find out my decision, but I figure I want them now. Even though I doubt my parents will let me go, I figure it’s just nice to find out more about my decisions.

Literally just talked to the Admissions Office, freshman decisions will be released April 1.

A lot of my friends have already found out. I’m so confused…

Only early decisions and scholarship recipients have admissions decisions already. All regular decisions will be released at the same time.

People also found out if they’re part of that two year integration program…

Also, I hope they were just saying April 1st to not start any rumors and that they’ll surprise us somehow…

My daughter is an international student applies for admission to NYU. She heard from her friend that NYU had released the admission decision on 23 March 2012. However, she received or heard nothing from NYU.

Would anybody let me know whether NYU has released its admission decisions? If so, when was it? If not, when will the admission decisions be released? In what manner does NYU release its decisions, online or by e-mail?

so if you haven’t heard back, does this mean you did not receive any scholarships?
