SO im from the seattle area and i just got accepted. I was totally set on USC but now i got into stern im kinda on the edge. I hear people are really independent and there is really no community or like school chilling out. im really into community and being with people from my school. Im also a work hard party harder kinda guy and i duno if NYU suits me.

Could you tell me if NYU might be right for me.

I don't know if you are "New York enough". Being from Seattle, my guess is no. You have to have a certain attitude to succeed in NYC, and it doesn't involve relying on anyone. Stern is an amazing program, one of the best in the country and attending it will almost certify a good future. But your whole life and attitude will change, better or worse, it will.

I would say, don't go to NYU unless you have a burning, overwhelming desire to live in New York City. The city will be such a large part of your experience, it doesn't make sense to make the trip if you're wishy-washy. Also, the school is very expensive. (I'm a parent, but I live nearby.)

nyu (particularly stern where people work harder on the whole than cas students do) definitely has a work hard, party harder air about it. nyu is huge, i cant imagine that everyone who goes there is antisocial and has the city as their best friend. my friend who goes there has a very closeknit hall and they all lean on each other - everyone is new to the city, you cant expect them all to be super independent right away. usc is probably way more laidback though. are you going to sunday at the square? you should take advantage of that and check it out, see what other people think.

Ya i am im pretty set on it though. I think im gunna go and since stern is so good if i dont lik it i can just transfer. Im pretty sure i will though. ive just never lived back east.
