@CindyLeuWho On the housing portal does it say Fall 2020 for you? Or do you mean the Albert site?
I’m sure NYU admissions has better things to do than try “throw applicants off”. The more logical explanation is just not to try read anything into stuff on the website that doesn’t signal anything.
I’ve been so active on here and I know it’s so hard not to read into these things but the only definite answer we have is when they release decisions. Until then, let’s all try not to read into every little change because some years people get all the changes and get rejected and some people receive nothing and get accepted. After reading into previous threads, that’s the only advice anyone can give. Only 2 more weeks.
@LeviAru The housing payment. I haven’t checked my portal in a bit so if there’s anything new now on the Albert part alone I would know right now.
Just realized a potentially fatal mistake I made… I originally applied to CAS as an art history major but decided to change to the LS school for GLS because I wanted to study abroad as a freshman. However, a program requirement is that I have to be 18 before beginning my studies, which I sadly won’t be until October. They’ll consider my age when looking at my application, yeah? In my supplements, I focused heavily on studying-abroad and talked about my experience studying abroad in high school… I honestly don’t know how I looked past that detail since I was glued to the NYU site for weeks during app season. if I am miraculously admitted, is it possible for them to make an exception?
@wanglou I believe legality plays a more important role than NYU rules…
I hope things work out for the best for you!
@wanglou , for the European study abroad sites you need to be 18. DC is also a “study abroad” site even though it’s in the US and i think you don’t need to be 18 for that. Depending how you wrote your essay, it’s possible that they would put you in DC rather than whatever your first choice was if they wanted to admit you and if it seems like it would work with your interests. Did you list an alternative school to GLS?
@aarybalker @SJ2727 Thanks for the reassurance! I guess by default my second choice school is CAS. The sad thing though, I live an hour from D.C., so it’s too close to home haha. But, I did apply to the Shanghai campus as well, so that’s another option since I speak Mandarin (if I am admitted, of course… & if the virus is contained).
Not sure what you mean “by default”, what did you list? Shanghai? If you did not actually list CAS as an alternative choice, they won’t consider you for it. If a lot of your essay was talking about abroad, then Shanghai would seem a more likely admit I guess.
@SJ2727 I applied two campuses, (NYC & Shanghai) but if I remember correctly, on my Common App I listed CAS as my primary school of interest with a liberal studies core. Since I changed my school of interest after submitting my CA, wouldn’t they still see that I originally chose CAS? I’m not sure if they would consider that detail since I had to resubmit supplements, but they still had to look at my CA for other info.
This is just me way overthinking. The results can’t come soon enough!!
Are you guys all getting “Residence hall closure information” on housing.nyu.edu??
“Our records indicate that you do not have a Spring 2020 NY based housing assignment in our system. At this time, summer, fall and global housing application processes are temporarily suspended. To apply for summer, fall or global housing please check back after spring break. If you feel you are receiving this message in error please send us an email at housing@nyu.edu.”
Yes I’m getting that message.
The housing comments are almost certainly linked to the fact that NYU announced today it’s moving online for the remainder of the semester and all dorms have to be vacated by next week.
They will only consider schools you list on the application. I may be wrong, but afaik if you no longer list CAS, they won’t consider it as an option.
Does anyone know if it’s possible for me to get accepted into CAS, even though I have a less than stellar SAT score? I know numbers aren’t everything, but I just feel like I’m underaqualified to get accepted.
Can anyone please explain to me how our preferences of campuses are considered by NYU? Like I applied to the US campus as my first priority and the Abu Dhabhi one as my second so incase I don’t get in the US campus would the decision on 1st April tell me if I got into the Abu Dhabi campus or would that decision come later on?
@shah500 Hey! I have also applied to NYU Abu Dhabi as my second choice, but I did not receive an invite to Candidate Weekend… Did you? If you have not received one I think you may have either gotten into NYU NYC or (waitlisted) or maybe you may have gotten rejected from both… Idk. also it is possible they don’t send invites to those who have put Abu Dhabi as an Alternate choice. Does someone know if they do send them?
@Shah500 if you are admitted to second choice school you find out the same time.
But, does anyone know whether you get invited to NYU AD’s candidate weekend if nyu ad is your second choice after nyu nyc?
when do decisions come out?
