NYU Spring '10 Transfers!

I feel like some of you will become suicidal if you don’t get in lol. I know it’s NYU, and I know we all really want to get in (me included, it’s been my target since soph year of HS). BUTT. remember, it’s not the end of the world.

btw why purple? that almost my least favorite color.

Washington Square Park used to be full of Violet flowers.

Hence, Violet and White.

I got in before Thanksgiving… not sure if I am going to go.
Got into CAS

High School GPA–3.75… AP’s and Honors
previous college GPA–2.8 (1 semester)
NJ CC GPA–3.97 (2 semesters and 5 summer classes)

sports at CC, in 3 clubs, and a ridiculously positive recommendation from a department head

I got in early and I have until Monday to decide if I want to go. My sister went and loved it, but I kind of like the local community college. Crazy, I know right?

BMW- What is your justification behind this last statement?

Viking- Congrats on the acceptance! I feel you in terms of the community college thing. How do you think you will cope going from CC to the largest private university in the country?
The plus side to NYU is apparently the class sizes are pretty small ( at least according to their website, which has proved to not always be correct). Hey I have a question for you Viking. Do you know what kind of financial aid your sister got if any?And when did you submit your application?

OMG! You guys, I haven’t officially received an acceptance letter, but I’ve been trying the NYU netID log in without any results (“only members of the NYU community…”), but I just tried it again and they gave me an ID and said that I could make a password! According to past waves of transfers on CC this means you’ve been accepted! What do you guys think?!

Holy crap! it just let me do that too! what does that mean??

it didn’t work for me. does it mean i didn’t get in? =(
question: littlemonster & donny 739: which school and department did you guys apply to?

I applied to Gallatin

Yeah, didn’t work for me either. Pretty unfortunate if that means I didn’t get in. I’m at a pretty large University right now thats not near any major city, and its killing me.

I’m pretty sure they don’t make all the decisions all at once?
So if the NETID doesn’t work, no worries.

and yea, I’m in the same situation as citysearching. (cant stand being a bazillion miles from real civiliation)

Jcheung, I applied to CAS for a neuroscience major. And as BMW said they don’t seem to make all the decisions at once, so the NETid thing means they haven’t made a decision…or there is a possibility you have not gotten in. I can’t even be sure I’ve gotten in, so until my letter comes, I definitely don’t want to get my hopes up and won’t dwell too much on this iD thing.

There’s no mail on Sundays, so I can’t obsess over checking every half hour! Haha, how’s everyone else holding up?

Pretty horribly haha. I have exams this week, and finals next week, so I’m super stressed about NYU, and then the exams on top of it. Especially if I don’t get in this semester I’ll have to do incredibly well for another semester and re apply elsewhere for the fall…Hopefully I just get in now though.

littlemonster keep in mind i was just speculating. Maybe they (somehow) do make all their decisions at once. Maybe not the actual decision, but they might enable the NetID’s all on a given day. who knows.

All I know is. the ID thing doesn’t work for me. and its ok.
because if i dont get in. I’ll still be at the biggest party school in the country.
…with nothing for like a 150 mile radius. … …

BMW, yes I understood that no worries! haha, I just agreed with you from what I’ve read on past NYU transfer threads about decisions going out. I mean they must not make all the decisions at once if 1 or 2 people in this thread found out before thanksgiving. I’m guessing you go to UMiami, if it’s the playboy list we’re going off of? Haha cuz if so, me and you are in the same boat. I think my school is like number 5. wooooo!

And city, I’m dying here! Three more days of actual class and then finals week! I’m trying to focus on finals but it’s really difficult!

Nawww I think he goes to either CSU Chico, UC Santa Barbra or Arizona State… But he said he lives far from a big city to that eliminates Miami and UCSB hmmmm maybe Arisona State too, but IDK where it is lol Tuscan? Damn…

Anyways, we should start getting out letters in the mail this week… If I dont have one by friday I think Im just going to call and ask what the decision is…

Haha, well I got to the University of Arizona which is in Tucson with nothing around for miles and was 5 on top party schools according to playboy. Arizona State is in Tempe which is basically Phoenix so he definitely doesn’t go there. I missed that part in BMW’s post that said no major city so I guess it def isn’t UMiami!

Good luck waiting everybody!

i just called and they said a decision has been made on my application. as an international applicant, i am supposed to receive an email as well as a letter to my home address. i dont understand why they have to hold my email notification if a decision has already been made.
well, i checked again using the netid method and it didnt work. and now that i know a decision has been made that i should assume that i got rejected…

I feel like at this point all decisions have been made on applications. Its not like they are making the decisions and sending out this week as well. My online thing isn’t working so hopefully they just haven’t activated everything yet or I’m stuck as well.

I think I actually tried this NetID trick and it DIDN’T work for me and I had a nervous breakdown, and then my acceptance packet came a week and a half later.

Thats kind of a nice thing to hear. I’ve had a bad feeling about my application since I submitted it but hopefully I am in the same situation as you.
