NYU Spring Transfers 2011

Hey! I'm applying to NYU as a second semester freshman transfer student. Anyone else applying to transfer next semester? I thought it might be nice for some of us to start talking and such-you know, moral support =)

anyway. i had a 3.49 high school GPA, did IB Diploma and had a lot of EC's. 31 on my ACT. I'm at UT Austin currently, enrolled in 17 hours and making mostly A's, (one B I think) and I got 18 hours from IB so I'll have the required 32 by semesters end. I turned in my application and all my forms this past week-so exciting!
I'm applying to Steinhardt-Media Culture Communications, but I think if I get in, once I get to NYU I want to double major in French.

So, who else is applying and what are your stats?

Hey I am applying to transfer to Steinhardt for the Media, Culture, Communications major as well! (I am going to copy my stats that I posted on another thread)

and SAT score is around… Math: 720 Reading: 730 (I don’t remember writing section)
Was previously accepted to Stern. I don’t know if that helps.

College GPA: 2.8 (really low, I know. I took really difficult classes fresh/soph year when I was thinking about doing some crazy majors)
Major: English
Minor: want to add a Film/TV minor soon

Chance me?

I am an English major/Cinema Studies minor sophomore at Rutgers University. Applying to CAS as Cinema Studies major. I submitted all of my stuff on October 15 but just confirmed that they received my professors recommendation letter yesterday.

Reasons I think I should get in:

-Current GPA: 3.6. Midterm report: All A’s. Dean’s list and NSCS member.
-This past summer I interned for ACADEMY AWARD WINNER writer and director Alex Gibney.
-For the past three years, I have raised a total of over $8000 for environmental awareness groups through self-run benefit concerts.
-The professor who wrote me a great recommendation letter was just promoted to VP of Academic Affairs and is also one of the head professors of the English department.
-In middle school and some of high school, I attended the Juilliard Pre-College for cello while studying under world-class cellist Andre Emilianoff.
-Placed at third two years in a row at the Union County Tennis Tournament. Also won a few regional tournaments in the New Jersey area.
-5 on AP Calc AB exam.

Reasons I might not get in:
-My SAT scores were low, 1980/2400, but after speaking to the admissions officer, I was informed that since I had completed a year of college it was optional. Therefore, I did not submit them.
-High school GPA was 3.78/4.5ish

What do you think my chances are? Do you think that since I submitted my application early, I will hear back earlier than December? From what I’ve been reading in past threads, transfer admissions might be rolling admissions.

@roymond-i submitted my stuff early too (like first of october) and i overnighted all my forms like 2 weeks ago so I’m hoping we’ll hear back soon! I think you have a good chance I mean you have solid stats, but i’m no college admissions officer =\

i’m worried because im a second semester freshman transfer-i dont know if it’ll be harder to get in because of that-I applied to NYU Stern for this current fall semester but got rejected so im reapplying for next semester to steinhardt. I got 18 hours from high school and im enrolled in 17 hours now so im in the process of completing the necessary requirements but i figure that if they accept me, it’ll be contingent upon me actually getting those 17 hours of credit.

@throwingmuses --of course you should apply! college admissions officers look at all sorts of things and i honestly think we all have a fair shot! you aren’t too far from me actually-i’m in Austin going to UT!

@pinkgrapefruit-it would be SO cool if we both got into NYU and the major! i really love the MCC major soooo much!

good luck to all of you! i hope we all get in :D

ugh I am a ■■■■■■. I submitted my stuff about an hour after the deadline because I forgot about the time difference. Do you guys think this will hurt me a lot?

nahh i don’t think they’ll be too strict about tht but if you want to be certain, call them.

I am too scared to call them and let them know that I handed it in late. Hopefully it will be fine. Does anyone know around when we will start hearing things?
Early December?

I read somewhere that it’s 3 weeks after the Nov. 1st deadline… so hopefully we’ll hear back this week!!

Does anyone know when accepted spring transfer students can start registering for classes?

Has anyone heard anything yet? Did anyone even get a confirmation email from NYC saying that they received their application?
