NYU Stern

Hi everyone! Right now I'm a freshman in high school and one of my dream schools is NYU Stern. What is an ideal profile of a student who gets accepted there? I really want to go there and would love to have a goal to reach. Thanks!

2100+ SAT

3.75 + GPA

A few ECs which demonstrate commitment, passion etc.

The stats aren’t set in stone (you can get in with lower), but these are a ballpark you should be aiming for.

Good luck!

I just got in with a massive scholarship and I had 2310, 4.3~ with 12 ap classes 2 3s 3 4s 5 5s and taking 2 senior year. I had only academic ECs

you considering stern? since you probably have offers like literally everywhere else LOL.

It also helps a lot if you have relevant business ECs. I got in with only a 2070 but I had over seven years working for an insurance brokerage (in a leadership role) and I also currently have an internship with a famous finance website while working two jobs. Superb ECs as well as excellent essays helped get me in despite my SAT score.

I just got in with an SAT score of 2050, so I don’t think SAT scores are a make-or-break factor. I’m predicted a 40 for the IB program and do tons of ECs ranging from music to sports. To be honest, I don’t have any work experience so that might be of comfort to you. I agree with @allenac22 , great essays will definitely help you. I’m sure NYU’s the type of school that appreciates a little creativity in the essays, so don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Good luck!

@nyuclassof2017 Lol I wish… I go to a super competitive school in Cali and everyone in the top 40 of the class has 2250+ and at least 8-10 APs. Also my essays weren’t that great so I ended up getting rejected from 4/7 private schools and waitlisted at 2, NYU is the only one I got into albeit with a 58k a year scholarship so I’m deciding between Berkeley and NYU.
