NYU Students--do you have any Crazy-Roommate stories?

I hear that this happens a lot at NYU and I want to be knowledgeable/prepared (:

What have you heard?

hah... I hope this isn't true!

True story, though I never witnessed it. Friend of a friend's roommate supposedly handled cocaine a lot. I heard many stories about him.

I get sexiled all the time. =(

Sexiled? o___O

That's when your roommate has their significant other over and because they want to... ahem... get intimate with them, they kick you out of your room.

Or you just leave, because most people don't really want to watch their roommates have sex. It can also be applied to any sort of displays of affection that you don't want to see, really.

But sexiling is actually really common, not really crazy...

I have roommates who litter. IN OUR SUITE. For God knows what reason. It sounds like a small matter but after a year of having a trash can that's perpetually overflowing because your roommates can't be bothered to take the trash out (and they don't want to replace the plastic bag either)... GOD. It really drives you up the wall. That, and they never go get a new roll of toilet paper when they finish one. It's annoying, because not everyone checks before they go into the bathroom. It's crazy how I have to do everything around here...

mine tried to kill me

I get sexiled for 3 days straight every two weeks. =(

Also, both my roommates talk on the phone with their boyfriends for at least 2 hours each time they talk, at least 3 times a day. I can never study/sleep in my room.

One of my friends had a roommate freshman year that left moldy oranges on top of the heap of dirty clothes she left on the floor and used a labelmaker at 2am for hours during finals week. However, her roommate was actually someone she was friends with in hs, so bad roommates aren't uniquely common at NYU - you can get a bad roommate anywhere! Even if you know them, you don't really know them.

Swear to god to be all 100% true. No sarcasm.

My suite mate uses coke a lot. Which usually isn't a problem. Except on one night (February 18th), he (who claims to be otherwise 'straight') got his friends trashed and coked up and had a gay coke-infused orgy in the bathroom at 5am.

He also doesn't shower or brush his teeth on any regular basis. He's the worst smelling human being I've ever come into contact with. We literally put incense in his bed post when he sleeps. He hasn't had soap since before Spring break (March 7th-ish). The weird part is that he has all the money in the world to buy soap with.

He used to leave his **** all over the place, but he stopped that finally.

That's only a very small part of the story of this suite mate.

hahaha. there was a guy in my dorm last year who never bathed...
and some artsy kids had this really weird HalloweeD party...truly, it was more comical than frightening. bizarre noises just came out of the room. hahaha.

every college has its moments. If you're a laid-back person, and can have a sense of humor about such things then you'll get along with people a whole lot better.

On getting sexiled--make friends with the people on your floor. it can be like a slumber party. haha. and, NYU wants you to have a conversation with your roomie at the beginning of the semester about rules in your room. take this seriously. anyone who gets sexiled 3-4 days a week is a pushover. stand your ground. it's your room too. if it gets too bad, that's what your RA is for.

I forgot to mention:

He hasn't washed his sheets all year.

He is the by far the foulest entity I have yet encountered in my 19 years of existence. They should do a discovery channel special on him.

wow that is disgusting ^. You should give him a Purel sponge bath in his sleep, lol. This thread is making me glad I'm a commuter.

These stories are weak.

Haha. So tell us yours, f1rewalker.

I don't kiss and tell. ;)
