Great ECs
Your SATs are good, but borderline. You may want to study and retake if you're looking at NYU and other top schools.
I would take at least one more SAT II, in a subject you can get a 700 + in.
Your IB/AB scores are also mediocre at best.

You have a good shot, but your app could be better.

how old are you? unless youre 19, it seems wierd to have 14 years of piano. idk how it is though so maybe not. i just dont think that 3 year olds have enough coordination to do anything more than bash the keys.

other than that, you should try and do better on your test scores. APs, SATs, and SAT IIs.

please, so that people here can gauge your shot at getting in better, TYPE IN THE SCHOOL AND PROPOSED MAJOR YOU ARE APPLYING TO. ALL OF THESE STATS AND FIGURES MEAN NOTHING IF WE DON'T HAVE A REFERENCE POINT!

if you put down the school you're applying to, chances are you will get much more varied and specific responses other than "raise your SAT score." this will only benefit you, so i think you should take said advice.

this goes for everyone asking about chances. hopefully you read other posts before asking.

I'm going to agree with oleanders. Your IB/AP scores, when they're mediocre, could actually hurt you. Get your SAT scores above 650 on each section - above 700 would be great.

well as for your ap scores, they arent exactly your forte, but you dont have to send it to nyu. chances are, you probably wouldnt be able to use alot of your credits even if you did get a 4/5 (depends on which school u get into though).

also for extracurriculars, its quality not quantity. you said 14 years of piano, so you must be hell good. i'd highlight some achievements. did you play in carnegie hall, participate in auditions, etc?

good luck!

Actually, your scores are very similar to mine... Kinda' almost there, but possibly not quite. In the gray area, in a way. I lost a lot of sleep worrying over that. But I got in somehow...

I agree with the previous post about highlighting specific achievements in your ECs. That's what I did. I really shoved it into their face that I was really dedicated to one EC, and I gave them a bunch of programs, competitions, clubs that I participated in relating to that EC.

Also, make your essay your own. Personality goes a long way.

Good luck. :)
