NYU Supplement- What intrigues you?

Hey guys. :) Not even sure if I correctly responded to the prompt, so feel free to let me know if you agree! I'd just like some comments/constructive criticism, please!

B. What intrigues you? Tell us about one work of art, scientific achievement, piece of literature, method of communication, or place in the world (a film, book, performance, website, event, location, etc.), and explain its significance to you.

"So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there." Charlie, from The Perks of Being a Wallflower, helped me recognize the fluidity of life. We may feel different, embarrassed of where we come from, & even unwanted, but we carry an ability as human beings to walk past those insecurities. We have the opportunity to move forward, past any circumstances that hindered us in the past. Nothing is set in stone. When we face difficulties in our lives, many often throw themselves into a rut of sadness and immovability. Yet, in that hopelessness that so many wallow in, we find a comfort in the fact that we are not done. When I think about the poor grades I've made, the mean things I've said, and all my petty anger, I tell myself that Charlie would want me to keep going. The daily insulin I inject and 25mg of Zoloft I take doesn't dictate my path. I can make new decisions, and create a bright future for myself. I can write stories of love and faith for people to relate to, study the history of my people to tell others about, or remove that tumor from an ailing young woman. I want to do things with my life; things that are not independent of my past, but things that coexist with them, helping me grow and learn from my mistakes. I yearn for an irrepressible freedom.

Anyone? Haha

I loved it!
