NYU supplemental questions..Please Help!

I am currently writing the “why NYU” essay.
I’ve asked a total of two English teachers to proofread so far…

One is my actual AP Lit teacher and the other is a friend of my mom who works as an AP Lit teacher/Dean at another school.

After doing some research, I was able to find that NYU does not want to hear the generic “good for research, NYC” answer so I decided to focus it more on me and what I did during my HS career towards my intended major (job shadowing etc…)

When I showed both of them, they both told me to write more of the generic answers.
When I did write about the location and how I was always fond of big urban cities and what not, my teacher told me that I sounded like I was worshipping the city. He told me that I should focus on how I can contribute to the amazing city.

However, the other teacher is telling me that it is good and that New Yorkers have a sense of pride that their city is the best and wants to hear those kinds of things…

I am conflicted as to whether I should focus it more on me/major like I did the VERY first time I wrote it, or listen to my teacher, or the other teacher…

What should I do?

You need to connect you and your interests with the specific classes and opportunities that NYU will be able to offer you. NYU wants you to explain how you will match the school and how you will benefit/take advantage of the program. To do this you need to look into the program and find teachers/specific classes and explain how these experiences will build upon your current interests and experiences. This question helps weed out students who just want to attend a famousschool.

NYU likes you to “name drop”…by that I mean be very specific about classes, teachers, yourself. Be specific about what you will bring to NYU as well as how you will grow and make your mark at NYU

do whatever gets your voice through. All they want to now is more about you.
